Zagreb 2025 would be a literal dream come true, ugh. Not only would I be attending, there was a high chance of getting to be a part of the production crew. **** EBU for rigging the contest for yet another rich country :fish2:

I'm ready for another messy season, especially as the cost of this edition will be high.

Yeah it's a dream of mine to go too. I had a bunch of savings in my bank account but I just had to fork most of them to save my cats life this week. :skull:  Let's manifest somewhere cheaper for 2026!

omg is your cat okay? :heart2:

Tbh, I think internal selections are what's killing the GPs interest in Eurovision. Having a national final makes people involved from the get go. That's why there were thousands of people waiting for Baby Lasagna to come back from Malmo, yet almost nobody cared about Nemo representing their country (see the photos where only a handful of people wait for him at the airport)

Usually we get some songs/artist announcements and NF details in November-December sometimes way earlier. Belgium artist announcement was pretty early last year, August I think. January and February are prime season for National Finals and announcements.

Yess he's fine now, getting back to his old self. He had to have emergency surgery as he got really sick all of a sudden, wasn't eating and barely moving and it turns out he had ate a bunch of elastic hair bands and some of his small toys :toofunny2: idk what went through his mind.

2024

June/July - host city reveal + semi-final/final dates

November - some national finals reveal artists competing

December - theme art reveal, list of countries participating in the contest, more artist reveals for national finals, Czechia and Albania hold nationals finals

2025

January - most national final songs released, some countries choose their representatives

February - most national finals take place

March - song submission deadline, by the 20th we have all songs

April - running order in late March/early April

Should be something like this!

so it's going to be a while until anything happens again

thank you! there will be some time for the dust to settle. usually i don't follow along until shortly before the contest but this year i want to see how things will go with everything that happened

do you think there's a chance that croatia will withdraw next year? :ninja:

Realistically, no, I don't think we will withdraw. I know HRT was on the verge of canceling Dora due to its high costs compared to our Eurovision results, so I can see Baby Lasagna's result raising their interest in Eurovision as well. On the other hand, there is a very small chance we might withdraw because this was our all-or-nothing moment. We've never invested more money in Eurovision than we did this year, and it might be demotivating to see that the juries were the reason we didn't win.

NFs are more exciting and I wish for all the countries that can actually afford one to invest in them and take them seriously. With the UK having a good result then back to back flops I fear that internal selection should not be the approach next year. No artist with anything to lose is going to go for it for a while and there is absolutely no reason why we can't have our own Baby Lasagna cinderella story moment (except the part where his song was put in the reserves list :skull:) but the BBC needs to take it super seriously which I don't trust them to.

Austria needs to have a national selection tbh. Their songs are always bops but they can almost never sing well live.

I think there will be some organizational reshuffling on the EBU team. Whether or not Martin remains is up in the air, but I can't imagine he wants to do this again. He's the face of the contest for EBU, and I wonder if he will ever be received warmly by fans ever again.

Otherwise, my hunch is that they will take this opportunity to further crack down on press accreditations and delegations.

They started doing it in 2015 if I recall correctly, as a response to those creepy Russian twins getting booed in 2014

Yeah they need to. They wont trust OGAE Austria this year to weigh their opinion cause they are the ones leaked Jesus Will Rave (and presumably Edgar too) so it'll just be actual people from the broadcaster to stop the leaks.

Austria is trying too hard to appeal to the fandom. The fandom support can only get you so far.

(so far meaning bottom 5 with the televote)
