While we're waiting for Albania to kick off the new Eurovision season, I thought it would be fun do a rate of the Eurovision we lost to COVID in 2020. All participating songs were divided into two semi-finals, in the same order they were originally scheduled to be performed before the event was canceled.

 

Considering it's been four years since the songs were released and we never got to see/hear them live, please listen to all the songs before ranking them to freshen up your memory.

 

The rules remain identical to previous editions. First, you will choose your 10 favorite songs from each semi-final. In typical ESC fashion, your #1 song gets 12 points, #2 gets 10 points, #3 gets 8 points and so on until we reach your #10 that gets only 1 point.

I forgot how dreadful 90% of the songs in 2020 were. I actually have trouble coming up with 10 songs I truly like. 2021 was such an upgrade, truly a blessing in disguise.

Interesting how the songs in general are more somber, serious, lower tempo and more jury bait-y (along the lines of the rest of the 2010s editions tbh) than those in 2021. Pandemi really made everyone go '**** that, welcome back bops, welcome back fun' huh?
