Assassin Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Quote Dua Lipa reaps the rewards of all that Radical Optimism this week, as her third studio album nets the biggest opening week for a British female artist in three years. Radical Optimism, Dua's first LP to debut at the summit, shifted a total of 46,300 chart units in its first seven days; the most for any British female since Adele's November 2021 chart-topper 30. Dua's album also boasts the biggest opening week of any British act overall so far this year, surpassing Liam Gallagher and John Squire's eponymous LP, which managed a first-week total of 39,400 in March. Radical Optimism becomes Dua's first LP to debut at Number 1 in the UK. 2020 record Future Nostalgia peaked at Number 1 in its second week on chart. Self-titled 2017 debut Dua Lipa reached Number 3 but showed extraordinary staying power, with 354 weeks on the Official Albums Chart (and counting). https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/dua-lipa-radical-optimism-number-1-album/ 1 5

If she releases a fourth single I could see the album becoming stable in the long run. 1
Nefertiti0 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 46,298 units (13,388 CDs, 16,772 vinyl albums, 4,779 cassettes, 1,414 digital downloads and 9,945 sales-equivalent streams)

Boysdontcry Posted May 10 Posted May 10 This isn't that much of an achievement btw. Charli XCX & Raye scored #1 albums in the UK. It's a fairly small music market - anyone can do it if you have physicals. 2 6

Since you mentioned Charli, she did 16k. Radical Optimism will most likely be one of the highest sales weeks of the year, if we're going by previous years. 2 2

Ya they went pretty dirty last minute & barely eked it out (stole) lol and believe she did very solid #s the week after. Minimal to no decrease? + Had TONS of buzz & a scorching hot single at that point.
