A true LGBT+ icon.

I wonder if they expand more on the topic of her 2nd album and the song "A Part Hate." I heard her producer who produced her debut album wanted full control over the 2nd album, and would not allow for the song to be recorded so she instead went with another producer for "True Colors".

I really wonder where her career would be if she had chosen to continue with Rick Chertoff as her producer at the expense of not being able to co-produce the music she sang. Rick did do a good job on the songs for "She's so Unusual". I think she does deserve her flowers though.

This better get a (limited) theatrical release and an accompanying original song, so Queendi can snatch that EGOT!  :duca:

I watched this last night and while I've always known of Cyndi's talent and her legacy, this really drives home that she deserves her flowers for many things. After becoming a pop icon, she chose to stray and crawled in her years of commercially rejected experimentation so many of the girls could walk and run later. She was bemoaning the fact that her career was up and down and up and down because of this but I feel like a peaks and valleys career is the most interesting to have. Now, she's finding success again on Broadway. I feel like Kylie Minogue is another old school pop diva that strayed from the path quite early but unlike Cyndi, she went back to re-build a mainstream platform after a while. I think the likes of Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé are the modern MPGs that benefited from Cyndi starting this. Beyoncé, probably more than the other two, really cracked the code and is carrying the totem forward for female artists who want to build a strong foundation for which to jump off of so that by the time they start doing whatever they want to do, will still have a sizeable audience and success. She had 10-12 years of big pop commercial success before she started experimenting to a large degree.
