wanderlust Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Madonna's free concert in Brazil over the weekend hosted one of the biggest crowds in history Economic impact: $49.5 million (R$293) Copacabana hotels: 98% capacity Rio airports: handled 170 extra flights Absolutely ridiculous numbers 3 1
Popular Post tiagol88 Posted May 7 Popular Post Posted May 7 This is why i always laugh when people bring up streams for an artist like Madonna. Her impact, her name alone is something almost no one out there has, and the new younger stars never will have. Not their fault, because they didn't impact the industry the same time Madonna did. Social media just changed how everything is done nowadays. Madonna is more than what an online algorithm says she is. 12 3

Selegend Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Oh and its also important to say since here most of members are not brazilians ofc that i felt pretty safe in a concert with 1.6 million people. There were police EVERYWHERE. 5

So let me get this straight, Taylor generated 158 millions to the Rio de Janeiro economy from 3 concert dates in the city (estimated 200k attendance) while Madonna with an audience upwards of 1.6M people only had an economic impact that doubled that while gathering 8x times as many people in the city. 1 Taylor Swift fan -> 790 reais 1 Madonna fan -> 183 reais Edited May 7 by Taylena 1 1 7

Madonnas concert was free. If u count the ticket price (~ R$500) on the difference that already would equal both of them. they're both incredibly HUGE. Madonna the most seen standalone concert ever. Historical and A MOMENT. Taylor the biggest tour EVERR, also historical Edited May 7 by Selegend 3

It was a free concert for the fans but she had at least three different sponsors and that's included in the numbers by CNN. This is why the media and some of Madonna stans shouldn't be trying to draw comparisons between them. 2
Movimento Perpétuo Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Queen of my hometown I read earlier that she will receive the title of Rio de Janeiro's honrable citizen

Madonna paved the way to younger female artists and she is from a generation when music was much more difficult to reach. You had to buy a physical product to listen to an album, nowadays free streams are counted as album sales 2

Your fave is probably calling a few people as we speak to do what Madonna just did anyway so be thankful. 2
