I am pro-Palestine, and I understand some frustrations but what I don’t understand is why some people have attacked Olly and Bambie even though they are two of the contestants that have spoken out the most, yet they ignore the contestants in the contest who haven’t said anything.

he has control over his career and what he does. he chose to participate, that does not make him a victim. people are allowed to criticise him and ask him to boycott, if he can't handle it maybe fame isn't for him.

He was probably chosen to go to Eurovision before October 7th and pulling out of the contract would have led to consequences.

I'm pro-Palestine as they come but I'm ******* tired of people who have never seen Eurovision discuss this. Yes, the contest is hypocritical and Israhell should not participate but any meaningful activism should've happened months ago and should've been directed at the participating broadcasters. Not at Olly and the other participants. The contest is literally starting tomorrow. Nothing can be done. So enough.

Can we stop using terms like "attacked" here? Criticised. He's being criticised.

People want action. We're 7 months into these horrors. There isn't a person on earth who is "unaware". "Speaking out" without action is performative at this point.

Olly's platform, reach & the specific nation he represents is relevant & has already been explained. What difference does it make, anyway?

There are people asking for someone with a platform, who's demonstrated an understanding of the situation, to take direct action & then, there are detractors who would prefer activism not inconvenience them and their "entertainment", who say things like "what about that other guy?".

Olly is an easy target. We've all seen the disdain that some members have towards "white twinks". This is simply another way for them to attack and hide behind morality. If they were truly feeling some type of way they would be bringing this level of energy to EVERY contestant.

:cm: Very that. As far as I'm aware, the contestants have been decided for a long time now. It wouldn't surprise me if he would have to face some sort of consequences if he pulled out of the competition. People need to take their hatred and focus it on the broadcasters and on the show runners who have allowed Israel to compete.

This is such a shame. I love Olly, and he usually seems so much more aware than this. That being said, his tears mean nothing here.

Yes, harassing celebrities (anybody) is wrong but holding them accountable for sh*tty decisions should always be the way. He's only taking this stand because he wants to take part in… Eurovision. As excuses go to not stand up for what's right, that one is p*ss poor.
