celeb news Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams still interested in making Mean Girls sequel

It's one of the few coming of age movies that I can picture having a genuinely great sequel tbh. I'd love it if they also managed to incorporate Renee Rapp somehow into it as like one of their daughters or younger sisters or something lol

In my mind the girls are now Moms and have kids in different cliques and problems they're not familiar with.

 

i couldn't get through the musical though. It was so watered down.

Yeah I don't see how this could work. If it was like several years after the old one set in college that could have been fun.

I would love that but unfortunately it won't work in our times. You can't make jokes anymore, everyone is so sensitive 

the first one was funny because it was making fun of minorities and lot of stereotypes

I...don't think making fun of minorities is most ppls reason for liking this film

Mean moms with a new cast and story would be better imo, maybe make Regina one of the moms.

I'm not sure if they could create a sequel that shows what made Mean Girls so special - if it were say, Mean Houswives for example, what signifiers could really make the characters stick out the way they did in the first? It's hard. Tina is right to say she just hopes that the characters are nice and uninteresting now.

I mean Karen could still be a ****. Gretchen a whiney, anxiety filled mess. Cady, average like in the first film. And Regina a snob but maybe something tragic happens to reunite them.

Yes. Which would be a great movie if done well, how mean girls become mean women. Those high school dynamics don't end there and horrible teenagers most times become horrible adults. But that wouldn't do as well because one of the reasons the movie did well was the youth factor and the comedic opportunities there. People wouldn't be as interested with an adult continuation which is why they'd just be forced to remain in high school.

I think there is potential there for a good sequel but I don't have faith that it would be done right. You just know they would probably try to pull in a younger audience by focusing on their annoying teenage daughters instead of the original cast and biting humor which is what made the original iconic.

she declined the reunion commercial last year because she doesn't do commercials (she did also mention she didn't know all the other girls were doing it..) she's always said she'd be up for a sequel along with the rest of the cast as long as Tina was on board

If it is good people will be happy if it is bad people will eventually forget about it. There are several movies from the 80s that had horrible sequels and people still love the original. It doesn't erase the original film. 

right like what difference does it make, just don't watch?  new/original stories are still being released every week and sequels/remakes/reboots have always been a thing, there's obviously a reason why they keep making them/demand.

if the og creators and cast want it and are involved I don't think there's anything wrong especially with sequels of older titles like let them get another check if their work is still beloved and when plenty other people have sometimes profited off of it more than them over the years
