I really enjoyed this album, it took a few listens for me to get into it properly but it hit also the singles are excellent.

Standouts are Woman Commando, 21, Goodbye & Last Heartbreak Song. I really hope this it's a success!

I'm loving this tbh :jamming: my early favorites are Control, 21, Orun, Birds Sing of Money, and Goodbye.

Rhythm & Blues, Commas and Bad Vibes were definitely the right single choices. I hope something takes off because this is a solid project and she deserves another big hit

oh this is... just decent :/ not loving any of it so far, I'll give it more time though.

What an INCREDIBE sophomore album. From the opener all the way to the end. Sequencing was stellar. That Intro>>> A STARR indeed.

Same. I'm seeing Afro Twitter hyping this up because they like her. I do too. But nothing is hitting as hard as Rush, Bloody Samaritan, or even Fashion Killer from her debut.

The released songs are the best of the bunch.

I do love Rhythm & Blues and Commas is decent.

But yeah, there's not much here, which is unfortunate.

I could write a whole dissertation on wanting more from Afrobeats in this commercial moment it's having (think peak Sean Paul, Wayne Wonder etc with Dancehall), but I'll save it and just say I want better singles and albums from many of them (not just the odd viral song) if they want to genuinely seize this mainstream exposure to the max.

Tems is up next...

gonna listen to this in a minute but on apple music the genre is worldwide:laugh:  I have never seen that kind of genre there, usually it is just pop, rnb, alternative etc

I really like the album, but I wish they'd hone in on giving her more of broad sound. She should experiment just a bit more, while staying true to her roots

i just dabbled into this project and it includes some fun songs but overall it's kinda bloated...

Woman Commander is a fun song, so is Goodbye (Warm Up). It kinda needs to grow on me a little more.

Control is a bop! That Hips Don't Lie interpolation :WAP:

Commas is one of the best songs of all time so I decided to give the album a try; been listening since it was released

thoughts

1. birds sing of money - basic, bland, 3/5

2. goodbye - i felt song was not giving what lyrics are giving, lyrics are fierce like **** off and then production goes bland, like she just talked about sunset, overall bland 3/5

3. commas - masterpiece 5/5

4. woman commando - one of the stronger moments on the album, beat is fire, even usually bland anitta and coco sound good, 5/5

5. control - london is overexposed, thats why this song sounds more basic than it should, but london fell off the dream school of beats so its not bad, its just ok even though he used violins, problem is melody or lack of 3/5

6. lagos love story - for me melody is much more interesting here, and obsessed with how nice this song is, but is not 'wow mind blown' so just 4/5

7. rhythm & blues - masterpiece 5/5

8. 21 - to me who is 10 years older lyrics seem hilarious (shes calling age 21 grown ass age  lmao) but ok song lmaoooo  3/5

9. last heartbreak song - cheesy, but nice 4/5

10. bad vibes - super boring 2/5

11. orun - obsessed with the the way she sings verses here, 5/5

12. jazzys song - bop 5/5

13. 1942 - cute song, but nothing ground breaking 3/5

14. the kids are alright - beautiful outro song, relate hard 5/5

15. santa - bop 5/5

i love the album overall, i can even forgive some basic moments, its not the best album released in 2024, but its one of the good ones and worth checking out
