Popular Post Achilles. Posted April 26 Popular Post Posted April 26 (edited) April 26. A date that will live in pop music infa-ME! Let's take a stroll down nightmare alley. First we got a taste of the era's aesthetic: We learned that Taylor inflicted this song upon the world purely for the sake of being able to make this pun: Miss Americana revealed that she responded to reputation missing the general field at the Grammys by saying that she would make a better record. And that "better record" was… ME! She was so desperate to go #1 that she released vinyl singles of a live rehearsal of the song. No pop star has ever gimmicked half as hard: All that nonsense was for nothing, as ME! was famously blocked by "Old Town Road." It did, however, set the record for the biggest jump on the Hot 100 by going 100-2: Swifties were so distraught and embarrassed by the existence of the song that they gulped down the copium and tried to convince themselves that the song was actually written for the soundtrack of an animated children's movie. Taylor had to log in to tumblr to clap back: One swiftie in particular lashed out against the haters in a now-iconic viral tweet in which he spoiled the death of Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame: The lyric heard around the world: The world successfully bullied Taylor into deleting that lyric: Happy 5th birthday to an iconic mess of a moment in pop history. I hope "ME!" doesn't get beat up too badly at school now that she's beginning kindergarten. If we're lucky she'll learn how to spell soon, otherwise she'll never be able to get into The Tortured Poets Department. Edited April 26 by Achilles. 19
TitanicSurvivor Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) Hated it as the lead single, but when i listen to it within the album it sounds good Edited April 26 by TitanicSurvivor 1 1

Saintlor Posted April 26 Posted April 26 It will never not be hilarious that swifties thought the song was so bad that it must be from the secret lives of pets soundtrack 13
Illuminati Posted April 26 Posted April 26 That single artwork really did look like something for a soundtrack

The whole ME!ss of its release is such a fond memory. What a hilarious time. She aged better than YNTCD and The Man, too. 1
ToMmY Posted April 26 Posted April 26 That one time that her lyrics matched her aesthetics. That being said I like it, unlike anything from her last album. 1
aesthetic bih Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Taylor released this so she can have a "redemption arc". Smart queen! 1
Vespertine Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Never forget that Taylor commissioned that um… beautiful… wing mural from an artist who made K*ylor fan art: https://kelseymontagueart.com/taylor-swift-karlie-kloss-vogue-magazine-art/ This is a very triggering day! 1

Rence Posted April 26 Posted April 26 It's a camp classic but it should have never been the lead single

At the time, I was seriously thinking Taylor was going to take the lifeline so I'm surprised she didn't. Especially considering she backtracked and removed the spelling is fun lyrics. 1 1
Taylor fanboy Posted April 26 Posted April 26 The reverse Warholian expedition. All of the good graces that THEE reputation built after the 1989-gates only to be shattered like that. To make matters worst, she deleted the only thing it's famous for. Funnily, the hey kids line is still available on Instagram Stories music. 2
Paultea Posted April 26 Posted April 26 The song is… bad. But I oddly never skip it, usually just laughing along like wtf is this. She truly is a mastermind. 1
ParisTexas Posted April 26 Posted April 26 That tweet from a Swiftie spoiling Endgame was so iconic, for that alone I don't mind ME!th 2
Taylor fanboy Posted April 26 Posted April 26 ME!th ME!asles ArME!geddon ME!ga Bomb laME! ME!ss ME!me The nick names too! 5
Saintlor Posted April 26 Posted April 26 It also makes you think that, sometimes with being a stan, the best parts are the things that go wrong and are messy The funniest times to look back on with her career are things like this and not when she sold 1M first week etc 1
