Dula Peep Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Have the VMAs always been fan voted? Because I feel like actual good videos used to win VOTY…. 1 1
unclefloprry Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Even Training Season would be a better VOTY winner than that sht 1 5 2

Gerardo Posted September 12 Posted September 12 the video of year winners these past years only Montero deserved, and I'd argue WAP should've won 6

Ivan_brit Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Well, for a show where basically all big noms of the night did not perform or attend it was a really decent show! The production for all perfomances I love big budget, winners very predictable RESPECT FOR KATY PERRY!!! 4

Almodusa Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 They'd award a Taylor scat video at this point 3
Cruel Summer Posted September 12 Posted September 12 While there were other contenders that were good (and I will NEVER have anything less than absolute love for Ariana and want to highlight that I especially loved WCBF), I think this win is way more deserved than the Anti-Hero win. Fortnight was a significantly better video in every way. I knew the moment it came out it would be a strong contender for VOTY and I'm glad that it managed to win. I understand it's not everyone's favorite song and that people argue about how much of a hit it is, but it's also my most played song this year, so I'm happy to see it get some recognition like this. 5
on the line Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I'm glad Taylor didn't announce a new album tonight. I want something new, not for her to be known as the "award show lady". 1
Baltie Posted September 12 Posted September 12 (edited) I lowkey feel bad for Taylor cos most of her fans expect her to make some huge announcement when she wins awards, and then they get super disappointed when she doesn't. Like, y'all need to chill and literally stop setting yourselves up for disappointment Edited September 12 by Baltie 1 2
Rihinvention Posted September 12 Posted September 12 (edited) I love Taylor, but whenever she wins for being unfathomably popular, it kind of defeats the purpose of the award. Now when she *does* deserve it, people are going to be like "well was it actually the Video Of The Year, or did she just win because she's Taylor Swift?" If she lost tonight, it would give the award more prestige again. Then the next time she wins it, it would be like "yes, that was truly one of her best videos, and it was truly the best video of the year." When she wins again, and again, and again, it's like "ok…we get it. She's really popular" instead of being like, "yes, All Too Well was objectively the best video of the year." Into The Void Posted September 12 Posted September 12 The way deserving winners never win at these shows since 2010
Raphy23 Posted September 12 Posted September 12 It started very good but then it tapered off. I also wish they showed more awards during the show

I agree. I think Fortnight is a fantastic song, but I think there was some Taylor burnout when it came out so it didn't take off like it could have. I'm not surprised she hasn't announced another re-record yet bc of it too.

Kanye already exposed my queen for telling vmas she wasn't gonna show unless they gave her video of the year.
