I've also always thought it feels like a prequel to the later released What Now (from Unapologetic)

It's one of my fave deep cuts of hers. Very underrated. Love that dark, trippy instrumental and the self reflective lyrics. The "dear diary..." spoken word bridge is also really creative. I think maybe the subject matter was a little too deep for some people.
