Why does Beyoncé never sell as much as Taylor?

Beyonce doesn't have a personality so people can't relate to her. She is like one of those AI made artist. Unlike, Taylor, beys career is 80% propped up by pr and payola where people really aren't that interested in her music or her, so her presence feels very forced and that turns people off. I feel like beys career would and should have been left behind like her peers if she didn't have her billion dollar marketing team behind her.

You say that as if Taylor isn't known for hopping from men to men and then making breakup songs about them on albums. Taylor will never have the respect that Bey has. Bey is way more respected. Sit down little Boy.

She doesn't promote and also Taylor is white and whether we like it or not, race is a factor. White america just loves Taylor more

Race is NOT a factor with those sales difference in 2024 :rip: What other white American artist who can sell like even half of Taylor? :rip:

All those singing and dancing and all the credits goes to her billion dollar team? Hope you enjoy the new album, troll.

UM they like Taylor because she is a plain jane YT woman. Katy had somewhat juvenile songs but was sexy. Ariana grande is way more interesting. Lady gaga is way more interesting.  She caters to conservatives

Let's be honest no one has sold like this. Beyoncé is still doing VERY WELL.

Beyonce is a black woman. Of course she can't compete with miss white American dream. Common sense tell you that.

No one knows. We must consult white women under 35 to truly get to the bottom of this :celestial5: and yes I know a lot of you gays from Singapore or wherever on here love Taylor but Gen Z/Millennial white girls are the backbone of her power, that's just an observable truth

If it's just being plain with no extra steps (trying to be interesting/sexy/controversial), then why not everyone just doing that? :rip:

Beyonce is a Black woman, if her music was more generic she would sell more, but still not as much. History has shown us that, not sure why this is even a question.

If you look at the history of people who sold as much or more than Taylor they are all White, Beatles, Eminem, Elvis, the only exception is MJ.

The irony being that Taylor relentlessly mythologizes every single aspect of her personal life and sells every little detail of her relationships in order to create a parasocial'd connection to her fans and milk them dry. Beyoncé is notoriously private because she doesn't need to sell her private life, her talents speak for themselves.

Oh plss.. Beyonce is so private, she has to dangle her kids out in public every two seconds and make up lies about her marriage to get attention because she is so boring. Beyonce is talented but so are her peers and billions of girls who can sing and dance like her. They aren't worth a billion dollars so why should she be different?

Taylor on the other hand is actually doing something that people can't do - write amazing pop songs and do it with class.

If any other woman was hopping from men to men and dating racist men they would be dragged. T Swift is not classy. Isn't there a GIF on here of T swift spreading her ass cheeks at a concert with them shorts on?

Here's an interesting (and honestly very measured podcast) about how Taylor Swift has been able to kinda be and stay emblematic of (White) Girlhood from her teenage years and into her 30s.

It also touches on why Taylor Swift is able to operate from that perpetual Girl Next Door position in a way that other white women aren't.

@The 1 @Josh  - I know the title is a bit incendiary/antagonistic but the guest has a lot of interest insights that I think y'all may find interesting. It also touches on my point about there being an absence of a Black Girl Next Door.

Hopping ?

All Taylors relationships have been quite lengthy. So you suggesting she hops from man to man is false.

I think the nuance that's often missing from this conversation is that it's not necessarily easier to sell one kind of persona vs. another one. Not every artist can sell a Goddess image, not every artist can serve Avant Garde, and not every artist can serve Girl Next Door.

Taylor may not be expected to "deliver" on certain fronts because of her niche, but her niche also isn't one that everyone can pull off (or maintain for decades).

Some of the things that allow her to pull off her act is a result of things she inherited, but a lot of it is also based around things she's cultivated.

Similarly, someone like Megan Thee Stallion probably never had the opportunity to occupy the girl next door niche that Taylor does, but Megan also inherited things that make it possibly for her to be considered a Bad ***** in a way that Taylor couldn't pull off.

One releases music for grade schoolers whose parents let them eat it all up since the mom's consume it too. It's appealing to the least common denominator.

The other has an actual artistic vision and takes risks, so hence it necessarily will be more polarizing and not as popular since it is not appealing to as broad of an audience.

Imagine calling a hard working woman "mediocre" just because you're fave will never be that successful as Taylor.

A woman who stands against the industry, writes and produce her own music, direct her music videos, and has 100% control over her image and art input and also sings live on a 3.5 hour show around the world would never be mediocre.

The goal for any artist is to connect with the audience and Taylor has found a way to do it in a remarkable way, that's why she's so successful WORLWIDE.

Beyoncé is really talented but she rather polarize with her music than connect, that's why when she released her most relatable song "irreplaceable" she scored a classic song.

this is hilarious considering with no PR or propaganda whatsoever Beyoncé released a surprise album in the middle of the night and it sold nearly half a million copies in 24 hours. You can't really achieve that if all you're "propped up" with is "pr and payola" and a claim that "people really aren't that interested in her music or her". The only marketing that this album had at that time was iTunes banners, which is the bare minimum, and yet you claim that its "her billion dollar marketing team"?

Also kinda funny to call Beyoncé an AI-made artist when her work is more unique than most popstars, including the other one mentioned in this thread.

I'm beginning to think you're trolling because aside from Chloe, who is literally her protegé, who are these other "billions of girls who can sing and dance like her"? Hyperbole aside, instead of a billion, are there even five examples you can share who are doing it like Beyoncé?

Also what dangling of Beyoncé's kids do you see happening? You are sounding delusional here, creating some narrative that fits what you want it to say about her. Like what lies about her marriage are you referring to? The cheating scandal? Even if you think that was fake, that came out 8 years ago. Since than has she ever mentioned any "lie" about her marriage?

Omg, I can finally reply. Stop switching on me lolol.

Beyoncé becomes more polarizing with each release. It's not her race. Also, Beyoncé is often put into the urban category. Lastly, her first solo album came out 21 years ago. She's doing better than most, especially those that started around the time she did. Beyoncé started as a solo artist when 106&Park and TRL were at their peaks.
