Exactly lmao

And don't get me started on how everyone was perfectly fine with using chart positions and streams to praise their fave/drag other artists until Taylor started outperforming everyone else after the Eras Tour started

Or how "comparing charts/streams" has literally been the modus operandi of stan Twitter and every pop culture forum since the Internet existed-- what do you think the "TRL" in ATRL stands for

Oh yeah, people are extremely hypocritical about charts these days lol. Charts is what people care about the most by FAR yet they're talking about critics all the time now, as if the opinions of two dozen people is suddenly more important than being beloved by the masses :clown:

They also act as if Taylor has been critically panned her whole career just because TTPD got more mixed reviews, absolute INSANITY :clown:

Funnily enough, the only time Fantano was fair towards her is in his Lover review :bibliahh:. I think he felt like she's on her way out so he finally decided to stop hating her cause she's popular/ the biggesf artist.

He could never fool me, I've clocked him as a hater and was just waiting for everyone to catch up. He's also one of the most boring and dull reviewers out there. There's barely any substance, even to his positive reviews and that extends to artists he does like. Like watchin an AI generated hologram talk about music. :dies:

Back in 2008-2014 when people were talking about who the current Pop Queen was they talked about Gaga, Rihanna, Katy, even Miley (:rip:) but NEVER about Taylor, as if she didn't exist.

To be fair she was barely doing pop back then, she even attempted to send WANEGBT to country radio :rip:

But yeah some people just can't handle Taylor surviving the Kimye phonecall (and being vindicated), a panned album, a panned movie, jet trackers and questionable boyfriends and is still having a commercial peak 18 years in :deadbanana4:

I might not have explained myself well. I was trying to say that the hypocrisy and double standards are applied to our fandom. We can never counter argument them, cause it's seen as "not being able to take criticism" when we give very valid points, for the most part. But it's as someone has said before, no matter how hard you try, they're not trying to hear you.

Oh ok, i see what you mean, sorry.

Fantano never liked her and when he gave her 7s it was obvious he was just doing it for the narrative cause she was getting her flowers from the critics. He's been yapping about her so much lately on socials to farm engagement because he knows people who hate her are unhinged and would consume anything disparaging towars her.

Exactly. It's so hilarious how Fantano, a supposed leftist, has fallen for the same tactics people on the far right do: use rage bait to get engagement. He's always been a pretentious piece of sh*t, he's just shown his true colors even more lately.

Oh I clocked him being a hater since 2014, when he refused to review 1989 and called it bad and said he doesn't understand why people like her. Then he had the audacity to act like he loved og 1989 cause he was using it to disparage the TV :bibliahh:.  It's so transparent and if he was doing it to any other artist he'll be called out on his bullshit more.

Ps: get ready to be thread banned and warned for being Off-topic. A certain two letter user name will eventually find their way into this thread.

Allegedly his wife/long-term girlfriend left him so maybe The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived hit a nerve or something :deadbanana2: Also people ignore that his weekly audience on twitch are literal 4chan trolls. If that's the audience he appeals to and cultivate, it really does say everything about him.

I think they're this unhinged because they're so insecure about who they stan. We have to understand that atrl is one of the only internet bubbles where you can say you stan certain girls without getting laughed at, so they feel like swifites are infringing on their personal space because unlike their faves, Taylor is actually beloved and known outside of small internet pockets.

...this is actually so true. I never really thought about it but it makes sense. ATRL is seen as a "gay forum" for people who enjoy "gay" pop stars (aka pop stars who appeal to gays more than anything). Taylor, for some reason, is seen as a "straight" pop star who appeal primarily to straight women and so they feel like Swifties should not even be on "their" spaces.

It's really not that different from far right "gamers" who always scream everytime there's a woman or anything woke in "their" video games, it's just another form of misogyny.

I still remember him claiming CRJ's Emotion was the inspiration behind 1989's 80s and synth sounds, you know, despite 1989 coming out a whole ass year before. :dies:

OT: TTPD >>>>> every other album released this year :katie2:

Yeah, Taylor was never an artist for "The Gays"™, she never pretended to be and never cared to operate in that kind of appeal. I can say so much about this but I know people will lurk and get their feelings hurt and it's Pride month so let me be nice...for now.

As a gay/ Trans fan, I'm glad she's never appealed to that crowd because I've never felt welcomed in it either (and I honestly don't want to be)

She was very much a country pop artist, she wasn't doing pure country. When i see some of the other girls they stan, some of them also weren't what i would call "pure pop", like Beyonce for example. There was no reason for her to be excluded from those conversations.

But yeah, you are right about the rest. People 100% thought she'd be over after the Kimye scandal, and it almost worked for a while since she DID have a commercial setback from Reputation onward (it wasn't because of the Kimye incident though). But now she's more on top than ever and the resentment over it is DEEP.

Gays on pop forums/stan twitter tend to hold grudges forever, just look at the way Xtina is STILL getting mocked constantly despite no being relevant for almost 15 years :rip:

I do think (and I'm parroting what someone said a while ago) that Taylor and (for example) Beyoncé represent two sides of femininity, Tay the softer, introspective-r side and Bey the more outspoken, bombastic side.

And part of the reason some of their fans hate each other('s fans) because they don't see the other side as valid, which is just plain bullshit tbh. Like I use Taylor when I want to get in my feels and Dua/Gaga when I want to jam to a bop, it's not that deep :gaycat7: it's almost as if people are complex and contain multitudes

It's kind of like when a baby won't stop crying so you just mirror those sobs back at it. It stops crying long enough to wonder what the hell you're whining about and that gives you a brief resolution to the prior dilemma. :dies:

You can see how pressed he is towards the end of the video like he is literally surpassing his anger:ahh::ahh:So much for someone that 'does not care' about charts:ahh:Literally OTH behaviour :ahh:

Please tell me your full thoughts, i'd be curious to hear it. You can even DM me if you want

And i'm a gay man myself, i just don't connect with this weird idea that pop girls should only appeal to ME :rip:

The funniest thing here is that she blocked Charlie without needing the digital versions. Her doing 35k without them and blocking the other's 27k debut is why I wish her team didn't panic often, cause now the haters are clinging to the digital releases for dear life when they have nothing to stand. Same as her only needing two voice memos to block Billie.

Spoiler

They just shifted the narrative to "okay she didn't need the digitals but she shipped signed CDs!!!"

Meanwhile the signed CDs only accounted for 3k of the sales last week. Combine that with the digitals and that's 4k, which still leaves a gap of 3k which is pretty big for the UK charts

This is why the "she's become the new BTS" narrative is a kii because she won in every department. Be mad at her releasing the extra editions all you want, whatever, but she would've had the #1 even without them. They just ignore it because it doesn't fit their narrative that she only won due to "fraud" :hippo:

It's prevalent in their marketing too. Introspective and demure femininity is often seen as "the standard," think of the average American "ideal" wife — a "traditional" and approachable woman, like the "relatable" girl next door brand of Taylor.

Whereas the disruptive and indepndent-forward femininity is seen as something larger than life that exists outside the confines of structural societal norms — aka a deity that exists beyond our present realm, much like the way Bey markets herself.

When he reviewed Red TV (her most positive review from him iirc) but said he wasn't gonna score the TVs, and it was soooo obviously purely because he would've had to give at least an 8 to Red TV :deadbanana4:

Him making all those endless TikToks and tweets about WAOLOM, he said "nobody wants you dead Taylor" and then the next day there was a mega viral tweet wishing for her to die. Literally. You can't make this up :rip:
