modeblock Posted April 17 Posted April 17 wait, "labor costs"? Aren't most of their employees paid less than the minimum wage and live off of tips? I'm so confused. I bet there's some CEO, etc. shenanigans at play here as well
Gottasadae Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I remember, I was there like 7 or 8 years ago, dishes were ok but kinda expensive, about $100 for two with tips So, basically nothing special for overpriced place.

I bet there's some CEO, etc. shenanigans at play here as well "Labor costs" aren't just wages. Medical benefits make up a large part of this expense. Also, employee training is a big expense as many states are adopting regulations concerning licensing of all employees who are part of a food service establishment, including servers. With turnover, the training costs increase with losing employees being a bigger part of expenses. Also, some states do not have a separate minimum wage for tipped employees, and many are considering the elimination of the separate minimum wage for tipped employees.
KBax Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Honestly, Red Lobster isn't that good. I had never tried it but always wanted to so me and my friend decided to try it out. We we're the only ones there, which I thought was odd for dinner time. The food took forever and wasn't even that great. The drinks we're weak and tasted like juice. When the server asked how everything was we said it was okay and she lost it... she slammed a dollar on the table and said, "This is from my own pocket" Like gurl don't hate 'cause ya'lls food is mediocre 1
Blue Jeans Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Oh no.. I used to work there back in college. Honestly even since 2015 there were fewer and fewer customers each year. People aren't so into sit down restaurants that take a long time, charge so much (some Lobsterfest entrees are $50! Plus tip and tax), and still get kind of fast food quality. An insider tea that shocks everyone - they have prepared pasta in a plastic bag that they microwave. Seafood is very expensive nowadays, and it's small. But I always have a soft spot for Red lobster and even went there last week to show to my bf. We split one entree and got an appetizer and dessert, not even any drinks, and the check was $100 with tips How sad
