Well the thread is title is accurate. Back in April, and still now.

I don't get the discourse of this whole thread, what's said in the OP are facts.

Also, what about Shakira?

I'm a Shakira stan, and she is in no way or shape bigger than Taylor Swift currently is and hasn't been bigger than her ever since 1989.. Shakira used to have massive truly global reach, but she no longer has that because she focused on the Spanish audience too much.

I agree that Taylor is currently bigger than her. I am taking about Taylor now compared to Shakira's global prime.

She is the biggest artist since the Beatles in the US, but not globally. There are a lot of artists more global than Taylor (despite the Eras tour grossing a lot, she has toured in less countries than most female artists and has few number one hits in Europe and Latin America), but this is not the case for the Beatles. The Beatles were massive in every corner on the globe.

Taylor's singles don't chart all that well in mainland Europe until very recently and even then she doesn't chart well in Romania, Spain, Italy, France, etc. Her songs also don't chart well in South America outside of Brazil and Argentina. The Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson and Madonna were massive everywhere. 70% of Taylor's sales come from the US (though Taylor is huge in the majority of Asia).

Taylor has also never toured Africa. In fact, she has only toured in about 22 countries. Madonna, Beyoncé and Shakira have toured in over 50.

Chartmasters states that as a whole, 70% of her sales also come from the US. Then there is the matter of chart performance:

I'm not saying that Taylor isn't global, but there are a lot of acts that are more global.

You say that the African market is almost non-existent, but Africa is comprised of almost 50 countries and over a billion people, so if we are talking about global success it's relevant.

70% of her pure sales*

She is easily among top 6 highest selling female artists in Europe when it comes to units. She just had the biggest Europe tour by a female artist for a reason.

What is considered global? Both Madonna and Taylor are globally known names. Taylor is bigger in Asia, NA and Oceania while Madonna is bigger in Europe and LATAM.

Biggest tour in terms of tour gross. Not biggest in terms of number of countries visited. I agree that Taylor is global, but she is nowhere near Madonna's level. Madonna is way bigger in North America and Oceania than Taylor is in Europe and Latin America. Most of Taylor's singles don't chart in the top 10 in mainland Europe and Latin America.

In Greece where my family live for example, everyone under 30 knows who Taylor Swift is. However, people in their 50s-60s don't, but they know Madonna, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Shakira.  I am not saying Taylor Swift isn't global she is, there are just a lot of acts more global than she is.

No she's not. Again her pr team paid for such manipulating propaganda.
