Yes, it seems that people can get famous for everything and very quickly but as we have seen with the rise and fall of YouTubers, it doesn't usually last long. It's already happening with TikTokers. Movie stars were much bigger during his tenure
Puttanesca Posted April 13 Posted April 13 He wants the pop girls to throw their makeup lines away and go on tour. He's right and he should say it. 1
Batsy Armada Posted April 13 Posted April 13 His example went over my head, but I absolutely agree with the overall sentiment. That's why the quality of virtually everything is much lower than it used to be. Celebrities, whether they were actors, recording artists or even TV personalities, had to actually hone and cultivate their crafts—especially for how strong the competition was. They had to have a way to stand out when they actually reached a platform, which was a herculean task in and of itself, to be able to showcase their skills and talent.

There are still Actors, singer and dancers but social media has expanded who can be famous and he clearly doesnt understand that. Maybe grandnpa can make another back to the future movie since he seems bored and bitter. He doesn't come across as bitter at all... however, if i had that horrible disease that he's been fighting since the 1990s... he would be allowed to be bitter. The man is one of my heroes... he has fought so hard the past 30+ years and he has done so many fundraisers for Parkinson... and collected so much money for research and continued to work up until very recently. He was brilliant in Good Wife btw. Think of him what you want.... He is right on this issue as well.. I am currently watching: The other Two which is a show on Comedy Central about basically Justin Bieber's rise to fame... or a person like him... and it is hilarious and true. a viral video opens doors, then people follow that up with the creepiest of other things and before you know it, their family slithers into the spotlight as well. In my country, a drug addicted homeless person who is consistently featured in our trash TV programs.... has a higher name recognition than former chancellor Angela Merkel. Her name is Carola. She's known for going to the job center (if she can put her shoes on that is, not paying her bills and avoiding homelessness by sleeping with all kinds of men). That is celebrity culture in 2024. The point is that he's right. There is a problem with social media stars. Well, maybe not a problem bc you always have the option of ignoring them. However, if you have kids, that may get harder.

It has always been obviously, but the internet has made celebrities easily replaceable and interchangeable. 1

Hes right to a certain extent but to say that people who become successful today have no talent is ignorant and bitter. I can care less if you idolize this creep.
