Mke1979 Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Jade gave us a ballad, a mid-tempo and upbeat banger all in one song! Angel of My Dreams!
Selegend Posted July 19 Posted July 19 obsessed! and oh the autoplay for this on my Spotify being Kesha's Joyride. 2 of the most interesting singles of the year!!! 1 1
kayliah Posted July 19 Posted July 19 yep song and video on repeat for me... the chorus is great and the outro is chef's kiss. The verses are very left field but i'm glad it doesnt sound like anything on the radio so that it stands out and shows us what Jade's music is all about. That's how you introduce an artist. You need that song to catch people's attention.

Garbaj Posted July 19 Posted July 19 great website ! no physicals unfortunately... that budget was prob put into physicals for the album ! a BEAUTIFUL black tee (buying it now). the website is really pretty and includes 2 AOMD prints, a sticker set, a vest, 2 graphic tees, and a long sleeved sweater.
LaFlaca Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I hear the kpop comparision but.. it's only sonically imo. this song makes sense as a whole. the lyrics are personal and have meaning, she is telling a story, the rythmic changes compliments that pretty well. and the mv is not just pretty shot after pretty shot...... she is giving artista, not product (not that all kpop is that but yk) 1

das_jerk Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I think its unfortunate that people's frame of reference for popular music is so limited nowadays because this song is literally nothing like a Kpop song. I mean, have you heard many (any?) Kpop songs that criticize the music business... Kpop is defined by pastiche - the piecing together of disparate elements into one song. (Pastiche defines post-modernism and has a long history. Even The Beatles were using such a technique back in the '60a on "A Day in the Life." Kpop didn't invent pastiche, far from it.) The whole point of this song is that the disparate elements all relate: they are meant to represent the highs and lows of success within the exploitative music industry. The parts do not make sense without one another, which is not true of Kpop. This multiplicity is made more evident in the music video which divides the modern pop star into multiple characters, but the whole point is that these women are linked to one another, or more accurately pitted against one another, in competition. So, let's give JADE credit. If this song is not wholly original, it is much more biting and thought provoking and POLITICAL than any Kpop song. An anti-capitalist queen What a debut. 1 1
shark_heather Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Damn the video is a masterpiece I get emotional watching young versions of Jade I'm so proud of her , i still dont expect a massive success but she trully delivered . I'm curious for her first performance Performances would help the song A LOT. Not in 2 months , asap ... 1

Kool_Aid_King Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Wow, this was an amazing record and debut. Well worth the wait. I had no idea what to expect & I was pleased!! She's the one. I hope she performs it, and gives avant-garde.

tbhmatt Posted July 19 Posted July 19 If we're going to get in to kpop discourse let's discuss how much a JADE x LISA collab would EAT because you can easily see JADE bodying a verse on a song like MONEY and LISA on a song like Angel Of My Dreams 1
