This is how y'all write a post critiquing a song/era/artist btw, take notes!

I don't agree with a lot of what you said, the music feels way more confident and interesting to me than most of FN and all of DL1, but I can also see what you mean, thanks for sharing love

Like u said........I think the ideas are great and u can see dua personality through these bops but maybe the execution is a bit weird. Sometimes i wonder how things would have been with a different set of producers :giraffe: ok we dont win anything complaining.
What is done is done. Lets live for now :gaycat5:

But yes......Dont allow  this backlash to ruin the era guys, Just have fun with it :gaynetcat3:

This is the summer banger of 2024 with the sabrina song.

I wonder if maybe the song is also "too european" classy-sophisticated for the Americans. Hope theyre able to appreciate it.

Perfect for the gym too :jonny6:

The problem is Kevin Parker and i stood in my take :giraffe:
I was predicting this before houdini was released and i was right. I was worried
Working with him was a mistake. The psychelic concept was not the greatest idea too. She needed a concept with more appeal
The guy doesnt know how to make commercial pop songs. Like cmon he produced the messy perfect illusion :gaycat3:
Danny Harle is also a producer of PC music. His songs are a bit weird. Thats not helping at all.
A producer believe or not. They shape the vibe of a record.

this part is serving me going on a rant about the lazy synths in houdini when it dropped, danny >>>>>>> kevin.

kevin actually has the issue of all of his songs sounding the same that haters throw against dua :gayalipacat3:

Danny produced this Masterpiece. Supernatural.  I love him just for that :gayoncecat3:

imagine how good a remix would be that uses the deep voice part you can hear in the background of the extended version :jonny5:

her team should call in the favour Kylie owes her and get her on a remix too. I won't accept this flopping, it's so good and has made me so excited for the album

It's gonna join its sisters TS and Houdini and stabilize around 2,5M for eternity

I hate the US for spreading the word about her "flopping" and "sounding the same" now the rest of the world is following

Quality wise Training exceeds Houdini in vocals, melodies, instrumental, bridge, lyrics etc. Houdini has a great breakdown that is about it.

Training Season subpar chart performance is due to the fact that her team handled it poorly and chart stand will continue to trash the song

Pls it has nothing to do with charts seeing how Illusion is tanking even harder and I like that better.

TS aged horribly and sounds grating now.

I disagree with yll. I dont think the problem is Dua doin the same music. Cause look how Dance The Night slayed.
These also dont feel like Proper disco POP songs like the past era. They feel more like  funky and experimental electronic pop
The problem is the songs. They lack punch. Theyre not strong enough and youre all blind cause youre all fans. Im a casual dua listener, so i can see it :foxaylove2:
I have to be honest. I just listened ilusion in full for the first time today and i was like.....This song is cute but when its exploding? Why it feels so soft? Like a lack of energy and is definitely the best from the 3
Ilusion is great but feels like a lemonade without sugar. The problem is Kevin Parker and i stood in my take :giraffe:
The video is insanely good tho. Hope it helps the song

A producer believe or not. They shape the vibe of a record. Compare the productions of someone like William to someone like Max Martin

But lets stop worring about performances. Lets enjoy the music :gaycat4: even if the songs are not masterpieces theyre really catchy.
They add something new to her discography.  Future Nostalgia 2? where? This feels like a totally new twist but in the dance music lane again.
Just live your best life with these songs. Who cares about the charts? She will eventually come with something more streaming-radio friendly
The artwork of the album is also one of the best in years. I would love to have the vynyl. Just be glad u have new music from dua. The videos are so hot too

Another great idea would be to have an expanded or deluxe edition. I think the album is too short.
It would be great if dua works in different songs with different producers but playin with the concept of the record.
Maybe for next year or the end of this year :gayoncecat3:

I actually feel like the songs are too commercial, when she siad the word psychodelic I was expecting something else lol.

But I do agree to an extent, love TS and Illusion, but they do feel anticlimatic I fear, Houdini has really grown on me and I consider it a killer lead single now, still excited to hear the project as a whole, I bet it will be even better than FN :katie2:

It's way better than Depresso which just sounds like a Say So rehash, Feather is the far superior Sabrina song

ot: Also speaking on Sabrina and her stans, her stans are driving me nuts lately using one under-performance of Dua's and instantly comparing her to Sabrina. I got mass downvoted in one thread cuz I called out their BS. They're just mad cuz I'm right. A few of them are getting far too brave. One underperformance isn't gonna erase the boundless impact and smash hits that Dua has produced already. I really hope Dua and us stans get the last laugh and this era ends up producing a smash. I have hope the SNL performance will catapult the era in the US. Anyways I know I'm slightly off-topic but my rant on ODHs had to be said.

I just think it's so weird that Sabrina's success seems to be hinged on Dua's underperforming era, when Sabrina's success as of now is speaking for itself.

For me although I prefer Dua/Illusion, I'm so ****ing happy to see another gorgeous pop girl who has a vision and a hunger to succeed smashing. Considering how most songs smashing rn are for the straights and lean heavily country/hip hop/R&B/alt etc and pop music is suffering, I can easily celebrate Sabrina's success without using Dua at all. It's just so strange to me that pop stans do this.

Clock it! I've been saying wasn't the best choice, he does not have enough hits in the pop realm to warrant exec product we tbh.

I would also like to say that Danny/Kevin aren't really the problem imo because the music is still good. What's lacking is Ian's final touch that usually makes the GP latch onto Dua's music.

Houdini/TS/Illusion are all solid songs, but Ian just has that magic touch that makes the GP appreciate Dua's music more. I don't think Danny/Kevin did anything wrong at all.

I agree, I like Sabrina and her music too. Both popgirls are amazing and doing their thing so idk why pop stans gotta pit them against each other when in reality they should be celebrating that we still have popgirls willing to put the effort in and put out quality.

My biggest gripe with Sabrina is that when she sings live she does this musical theater thing where she doesn't sing but she speaks her words every other line. Its so unnecessary.

I will only say that the quality is totally there, the songs are fine and it's just not the moment for Dua to smash.  Since I made the decision of not caring about charts and what the hate uproar against RO online is, I am finally enjoying the music for how amazing it is.

One thing about RO so far is that the lyrics here talk about different instances/situations I have been in/experienced while being single all of last year, after 4-year relationship...  You know, the seductive game with someone at the club late in the after-hours, going on bad dates and then being over dating, the knowing someone is definitely gonna be bad for you, but taking them home any way...This album is also about navigating being single and I 100% relate. In retrospect, FN was also more about falling for someone: Cool, Physical, Levitating, Pretty Please, Hallucinate, Love Again, Break My Heart are all about falling for someone. Not to say that RO won't have any songs about falling in love, but it's definitely not the main lyrical theme here.

I will also say that the singles this era are better appreciated when listening to them "de-consctructed" (main version, extended, instrumental, acapella), at least to me!

OT: Illusion will smash - it's too good not to.

We need this to play in every gym STAT. The video is hot and the straights will flock :jonnycat:

I don't know if it's better but Illusion definitely has more punch than Espresso so I don't think the songs "not having a punch" is really the issue here.
