No, but when Houdini didn't do the numbers they wanted, they brought in Brandon Davis to advise, who oversaw the Barbie soundtrack. He is the VP and pop music A&R at Atlantic Records and, for those that care, is Ava Max's A&R in the US and one of the people that signed her at APG before her Atlantic deal.

Well he sucks at his job

It says be prepared…get ready…expect the unexpected…get ready to have fun…and to dance!!

Illusion snippet has grew on me! I see the vision :jonny:

It says Warner gave her an Ibiza airbnb rental for the afternoon, a photographer and a shark fin prop and said all of the era's visuals have to be shot today, good luck girlie! :jonny:

They also threw in an Adobe subscription so she could do the covers herself, which is how we ended up with cursive Arial

I just googled. Emily Warren under Prescription Records (Dr Luke's publishing under Sony) wrote it, so he gets a cut. Sarah Hudson who is also under him also wrote Levitating and Physical, so pretty much the Future Nostalgia era made him a bunch of money:noparty:

Is Kobalt on the publishing credits?

I understand why @unclefloprry stans it's the same song on an endless loop I think he may have a neurological defect

What is Kobalt? I looked on ASCAP both them and Prescription have publishing credits on Don't Start Now and Levitating

Oh I see what you mean. I could careless about visuals and themes. I know that these things can elevate the experience but as long as I enjoy the music I am happy.

Seeing as the vinyls for the album had to be done before Houdini was released, let's see if your theory is correct when comparing this Illusion to the Illusion on the physicals

6 to 8 weeks. The vinyl is overseen by Abbey Road and their partners.

I can't believe we're still discussing the conspiracy theory that Luke worked on Don't Start Now and Levitating just because the writers are signed to his publishing company.

By this logic, he also worked on every Kesha song since 2017.

It would mean Dr Luke personally earns publishing on the songs, not just his company.

Dr Luke isn't signed to himself as a songwriter/producer, he's signed to Kobalt. It's a deal that predates him creating Prescription Songs.

Do you have the percentages?

Edit: This isn't correct and doesn't seem to have been the case for some time.

For the past few years:

Songwriters/producers signed to Prescription Songs get their own shell company that collects their cut of royalties. This is managed by Prescription Songs and administered by Kobalt.

Separately, Prescription Songs have themselves listed on the publishing too. This likely excludes the songwriter/producers (listed separately) so is going straight to the owners.

Prescription Songs only has one owner.

All of the Prescription Songs catalogue is administered by Kobalt. Songs written by Doja and Kesha with no Luke involvement are also registered on Kobalt.

It's a priority release cut by Miles Showell. If you don't know ****, be quiet.

the elongated "oooh" when the chorus is about to hit is quite infectious

i honestly see this going either way... but since this sound is closer to what the US likes rather than Europe (Rave/Dance -> Disco/Bubblegum) I'd say it has a chance to smash

it all comes down to luck tbh... they NEED the RIGHT promo with this

I honestly don't remember who I told over DM about this, but the final track is technically a remix/re-edit/reproduction of a now-scrapped version. There should be an "additional production by" credit of somebody who was all over the Barbie album.

Where is the additional production credit? :suburban:

It's from the official YouTube upload

Engineer: Cameron Gower Poole Unknown: Cameron Gower Poole Unknown: Caroline Ailin Masterer: Chris Gehringer Unknown: Daniela Sicilia Keyboards, Percussion, Synthesizer, Whistle: Danny L Harle Producer: Danny L Harle Drum Programmer: Danny L Harle Vocals: Dua Lipa Backing Vocals: Dua Lipa Unknown: Jan Brzezinski Mixer: Josh Gudwin Unknown: Josh Kay Drums, Guitar, Keyboards, Percussion, Sound Effects ( Sfx): Kevin Parker Bass Guitar: Kevin Parker Producer: Kevin Parker Assistant Mastering Engineer: Will Quinnell

N no my original comment was indeed about what it says about the album quality. Did they pick those songs because they are the most commercial and the rest of the album has more experimental elements? Did they pick them cause they thought those are the best? Makes me wonder

Do you have a screenshot?

Edit: scrap what I posted, I looked myself at a few random Prescription Song credits, they have a shell company set up for each Prescription Song songwriter. It's not as simple as I made out.

No CD/Cassettes, it's giving promo single at best. I'd rather want the mv to not be the Barcelona pool one, let's save it for real single and make a sweaty nightout dance video for this song…

You are right, seems this will be just the promo single.

Does it mean there is 4th single coming on May 3rd together with album and that will be the Barcelona video?

Do promo singles get press releases and called "the third single"?

Yeah, it's not accurate to look at this this way. He's mostly credited through another shell company called Where Da Kasz At? also at Kobalt but that company also published songs by OG collaborators like Benny Blanco, Kesha, Cirkut & Emily Warren.

Luke did not have a creative hand in any Dua song.

Yeah melodically this is better than Houdini and Training Season imo, I can see this doing better in the US than both tbh

Why did you cut half of my post away and then reacted to it?

My post was a reaction to this:

" No CD/Cassettes, it's giving promo single at best. I'd the mv to be the Barcelona pool one, let's save it for real single and make a sweaty nightout dance video…"

And it was also an question? So ...

Oh European radios will eat this song up... The Physical of Radical Optimism :wanda:
