She paid taxes to USA where her business is located  …. She doesn't have to pay Spain a dollar , reason why they gave her a plea deal… they had a weak case  :eddie: She should of taken this to court

She lived in SPAIN for years and forgot to report she had her little offshore scheme in the Cayman's to continue paying 2% in tax as a billionaire. Spain caught a whiff of her fraudulence and was set to make an example of her at court by calling 200 witnesses to expose her but she backed out last minute to avoid the gigantic, career ending scandal. She was the one with the weak case, not Spain.

You sound stupid… that's why they gave her a plea deal ?  They don't give a damn that she's rich and famous ..if that's the case there wouldn't be a plea deal and  she would be in jail right now  ….they would of taken her to court without a  plea if they had "200 witnesses" as reported  :ace: that was just plain BS…… a smear campaign

they didn't have a case plain and simple and rather settle and take her money and attorneys make their careers  :coffee2:

spain law states that if she's less that 165 she doesn't reside in that country…… and international law say she pays taxes where her company is located…USA. And paying 2% as a billionaire in the cayman is legal if it's done right and I'm sure she's not the only billionaire to do so   :eddie:

She stayed in that country for more than 185 consecutive days, bought property, raised a family and also did business there so she had to pay taxes to Spain, then came up with "global citizen" nonsense and instructed her housekeepers in the Bahamas to run faucets to make it seem as if she stepped foot outside Spain for more than a few days. She had to settle because the media circus would be immense, the trial would take way too long to resolve and she realized it would be better off for her to give in to their demands. They'd been trying to make her settle ever since they charged her with tax fraud but she was the one who wanted to to go to court and prove her "innocence".  They were never going to incarcerate her as super rich celebrity anyway but she didn't make things easy for her either by blaming it all to botched accounting business conducted by her father in law while she was COMPLETELY clueless. Case in point, her ex is also found guilty of tax fraud so it ran in the family.

Now as a US citizen she can tax evade as much as she wants, but as a Spain resident it was illegal and she had to pay what she owed. :cm:

That's not how court works , if she was guilty with "200 evidences" there wouldn't be a plea deal… they don't care and wouldn't give a fly. Because she's rich and famous excuse is just stupid  and laughable  :bam: I use to work in a court room and seen many high profile cases and that's not how it works.come back from Lala land

Rocket is apt. The dragnet is closing in on her money-laundering ex Pique — he's about to be "fired away" into the slammer. He has been caught (on tape) in the act of doing dastardly deeds. One of his accomplices (Rubiales) is about to be cuffed

Oh, so first you worked in a court room and then you branched out to the entertainment business seeing how you are an insider now. Got it.

She pleaded guilty and agreed to pay what she owed, end of story:bibliahh: Spain got what they wanted in the end from her.

Maybe take off your stan goggles and use critical thinking next time.

we stand with Shakira tho, Spain is always trying to pull this shenanigans just to get them coins, they do it to everybody and there's a lot of corruption involved.

Shakira's case is well known because of her name but this scam is more common than we think

Here, since you're struggling to accept the facts that Shakira HERSELF admitted to her own guilt due to severe delusion:bibliahh:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/spain-shakira-tax-settlement-1.7033591#:~:text=She answered "yes" to confirm, euros (%2410.5 million Cdn).

https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/music/2023/11/20/shakira-tax-fraud-spain/

After having maintained her innocence for nearly five years, pop star Shakira struck a last-minute deal to avoid the risk of going to prison on the opening day of her tax fraud trial in Barcelona on Monday.

Shakira told the presiding magistrate, Jose Manuel del Amo, that she accepted the agreement reached with prosecutors. She answered "yes" to confirm her acknowledgement of six counts of failing to pay the Spanish government 14.5 million euros (about $21.7 million Cdn) in taxes between 2012 and 2014.

Under the deal, Shakira is to receive a suspended three-year sentence and a fine of 7 million euros ($10.5 million Cdn).

In exchange for having her sentence waived, however, Shakira will have to pay an additional 432,000 euros. Her legal record will also reflect that she was found guilty of tax fraud — which could have an effect on separate tax evasion charges the singer is still facing.
