Villas Posted March 26 Posted March 26 It's peculiar how the ship hits the bridge's infrastructure so easily like it was too fragile 1

There are other videos circulating that show the entire event, including both instances of the power going off. If that's the case they really shouldn't have taken a faulty cargo ship close to that bridge. Curious to learn more about this stupid ass decision. 2
TaggedGalaxy Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Drowning stuck in your car is such an awful way to go. I watched a ton of videos on what to do in that situation and how to save yourself, but unless you are in that situation, panicking and unable to think straight, it's difficult to know whether you can actually remember what to do.

JO1s Posted March 26 Posted March 26 America should stop spending a billion dollars per war ship and spend money on our aging cargo ships that effect the daily life of the average American much more. 1 1
DAP Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Same city that is spending a $1 billion for a new prison by the way.

NoOneDiesFromLove Posted March 26 Posted March 26 This is unbelievable omg. Why didn't the ship take more precautions? Why didn't it go to the coast if it had lost power twice before?

She's the mayor of DC, which is 45 mins outside of Baltimore. can't say I'm surprised at her response though. She's an underwhelming at best and terrible at worst mayor of DC. But that's getting off topic so I digress. I met a friend of a friend last night in DC, we hung out as a group for a bit, a couple hours later, the friend of a friend apparently went over the bridge literally like 20 mins before this happened, he said. Very scary but grateful he is fine.

Why didn't it go to the coast if it had lost power twice before? From what I've seen, I think the ship lost power multiple times but it was too late. They probably couldn't stop or turn the boat.

Do you think cargo ships are bought and maintained by the government and not private companies shipping said cargo? 8 hours ago, Villas said: It's peculiar how the ship hits the bridge's infrastructure so easily like it was too fragile The ship is longer than a skyscraper and weighed more than the bridge itself. There is nothing peculiar about this lol. No bridge would withstand that ship hitting it directly like that. What you saw makes complete sense. Some of these comments are just flat-out dumb. This was not a result of failing infrastructure, it was a freak accident with a massive ship that quite frankly should probably not be allowed to traverse rivers with bridges. Nothing less, nothing more. The captain quickly realized there was an issue and sent out a mayday to local authorities. The quick actions of those authorities helped keep more people from accessing the bridge and getting caught in this accident.
