KatyPrismSpirit Posted March 24 Posted March 24 It never left the chart? What a ******* classic. Its so crazy to think about how long I've personally lived with this album as well. From high school all the way to now. Wild 6
CaptainMusic Posted March 24 Posted March 24 The title is misleading as Ctrl is nowhere near 21 in actually relevant metrics. This is also a very specific record as 21 is still charting on the BB200. Sza is huge but yeah. 1

I mean, the album did break 21's all-time record for the female album with the most weeks of consecutive charting. Its too long to include as a thread title. 5

Twizzy Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) How is this possible? Atrl and Twitter told me Taylor was the queen of charting albums and was the music industry. Surely one of her 15 albums spent their first 354 weeks in the top 200 of the hottest albums in the US? Edited March 24 by Twizzy 4 3 4

Seems like you guys can't celebrate your faves achievements without comparing them to Taylor. But to answer you're question, it's because it's easier to chart your album with streaming, hence CTRL beating 21 even tho the latter obviously much much much bigger. The only Taylor albums old enough to break that record are 1989 and before. No Taylor album since reputation has ever dropped out of BB200 2

CTRL is an amazing record and most deserving of the title. A sleeper smash.

I believe it's also the longest consecutive streak for a female album as well Spoiler But they would have to say it's tied with 1989 so they just went with "first 354 weeks"

So ultimately it just has to outlast CTRL by 2.5 years or so to take the record. We will see

No Taylor album since reputation has ever dropped out of BB200 Just to be pedantic, Fearless TV did leave the BB 200 chart several weeks, but it's been charting consitently since July 2022 (an 88 week streak, compared to its 22 week debut streak). Soem more fun facts: 1989 has charted for all but 7 weeks since its release Repuation spent 109 consecutive weeks on the chart following its release, and is currently on a 116 week streak. It's also her 2nd longest-charting album. John Mayer tanked Edited March 24 by penguintim
BrandNewBrandon Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Great longevity for SZA but another example of why you cannot compare streaming era success stories to digital era success stories. How long would SZA's CTRL have been able to chart consecutively if everyone that listened to it would have to pay at least $15 for it? She would not have that same record in a different era while Adele would've had that record regardless of which era (and probably never even left for one week at all in the streaming era).
