makeawish Posted May 16 Posted May 16 i feel like this is gonna be the main success of this record (provided that the rest of it is as good as what we've heard), that she's made a lot of pop nerds sit up and pay attention in a way that we wouldn't have for anything else she's done. whether it's gonna perform well commercially i really doubt - to pivot so wildly is a hard sell and while obvs a lot of effort has gone into getting all these name collabs, the rollout feels haphazard, like they don't seem to know whether to go with the catchiest material or just to try create a buzz around the obvs story. but tbh i expected i luv it to flop a lot harder than it has done (60 million plays and counting) and, esp given the quality of the two singles, i just have a lot of respect for her not just going down the 'diminishing returns, havana pt 14' route 2

Camila Obama Cabello Posted May 16 Posted May 16 (edited) I'm honestly a optimistic person but if this album doesn't go number #1 and have at least a top5 hit will be over for camila i fear how did she managed to ruin her career like that? she was literally one of the most HYPED artists at some point 5H split, bad things doing NUMBERS, followed by one of the biggest hits of ALL TIME and a #1 debut. then senorita came with shawn mendes and was MASSIVE. she had EVERYTHING. grammy nominated, latin grammy winner, VIDEO AND ARTIST OF THE YEAR on VMA. she had the GP, the awards, the numbers, praise. she had EVERYTHING her team and camila's lack of ambition ruined it all. that romance rollout was peak amateurism to me, who tf thought it was a good idea to pull out several performances and MV's for different songs instead of focusing on getting a followup hit after the massive success of senorita? do you understand how amateur you have to be to NOT get at least a mid top10 hit after a huge song like that? how wasteful it was? If she ever gets another top 10, then great, but if not then oh well. I just wanted a stronger lead single (one that could at least crack the top 40) and bring a couple hundred million streams to the album before release. Meanwhile, we've currently got two singles and we still haven't surpassed 100 million streams combined. This album could potentially do even worse than Familia tbh. 1 1

Camila is in the current 100 most listened to artists, and in the top 250 best selling of all time. She does not need to hit #1 or have that amount of success again. She made it big enough to the point where she will at least have a cult fanbase and be able to tour small venues. Just enjoy the music - which (as long as she wants to), she'll always be rich enough to continue making. 4
