She might have a temporary hit but not the type to sustain long-term fanbase. Honestly I think she needs to go back to Latin music ASAP. If she wants more R&B / urban or a drastic reinvention, then mix urban/dance with Latin like JLo's debut album (On The 6 - Feelin So Good, Let's Get Loud, Waiting for Tonight) At least she said X O X O at DCD, i think camila should link up with pitbull and make a song like On the Floor I feel they gatekeep the deluxe or other side of the album until there is a song going viral

Europe Posted August 2 Posted August 2 JustLikeMagic told us they recorded a lot of very good very pop songs for Romance that were never released. I guess she can't release those anymore because of the label switch but I need them to leak someday.

She seemed to be in other countries rather than concentrating in the Usa. Why didn't she release a music video for Hot Uptown? I think there was supposed to be a music video for Hot Uptown with the original release date. JLM said she never got word about it, probably because plans changed in early April (I noticed all the producers on the song started following eachother around then, so they were gonna do something for sure). It just wouldn't make sense to not make a mv for the first official radio single right after she got Carti (who is difficult to book and work with) for I Luv It. I think Drake told her to pivot without him and they used the budget on He Knows and Chanel No.5. And she probably got her budget cut after all those underperformed. Because why have a music video if it won't translate to streams or sales? I think every collaborator on this project did their job and everything they could possibly do in their capacity to support her. Everything else was out of their control. Even the Kendrick/Drake feud was out of Drake's control and I'm sure he probably felt bad it threw a wrench in her rollout and the rollouts of other people he was supposed to drop features with.. it is what it is though.

If she wants more R&B / urban or a drastic reinvention, then mix urban/dance with Latin like JLo's debut album (On The 6 - Feelin So Good, Let's Get Loud, Waiting for Tonight) She made Familia and Latin America didn't even care for it. I'm sure she was hurt by it too. When even your own people don't care for your Latin sounds... yeah, I can see why she wanted to pivot and not have any Spanish at all on this record. As much as I love B.O.A.T and June Gloom, these records sound like they should have been on her debut album. Same with twentysomethings, DREAM-GIRLS, and pretty when I cry. No artistic growth to me at all. I think she got the closest to what her sound SHOULD be with I Luv It, Chanel No.5, DCD, Hot Uptown, Uuugly (even though it's only Drake), pink xoxo... these are the only songs that matched the vibes she described pre-release with the hip-hop and urban leaning sound. I would love for her to continue with THIS specific sound, and even lean into hip-hop and R&B more for the next album. It seems like she has been trying to get into that world more with the features and the artists she has been talking about and listening to lately. I do expect her to work with Drake again in the future, and maybe people like Lil Yachty, Teezo Touchdown, Travis Scott, Central Cee, Sexyy Red, Ice Spice (I'm sure she has a song in the vault with her already), etc... What would make it more unique and #her, would be to mix the hip-hop with subtle Latin sounds. Something like SAOKO by Rosalia is what I expected from her for C,XOXO (especially after getting El Guincho and someone like Drake) and unfortunately I didn't get any of that vibe... just either go fully experimental with those sounds, or continue the debut album vibes and be the Latin Taylor Swift which everyone has showed they have no interest in. This album had too much of everything and it felt more like a "here are the potential sounds I want to FULLY tap into on the next album, and you guys tell me which one you like the most". 1
My20sBlues Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Can Friends Kiss is almost complete on the internet, it is a very good pop song
BlahBlahBlah Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I will never understand what the plan was for this rollout. I LUV IT had the right amount of online attention but they blew it by delaying it for Olivia's deluxe (why that would interfere with her numbers at all, like?) and not sending it to radio. It was the best performing song out of the singles and it was left to die even after it charted without much investment beyond the video and some minor playlisting. I assume we will have to wait until around the VMAs at this point for the deluxe. 💔

When even your own people don't care for your Latin sounds... yeah, I can see why she wanted to pivot and not have any Spanish at all on this record. I would be surprised if she felt this way because it's not like she made any special attempts to push the record in that part of the world. It's actually a good example of what I mean when I say she has the right idea sometimes but doesn't fully commit. To expand: Bam Bam was crying out for a full Spanish version but… nothing. None for La Buena Vida. None for No Doubt. It was strange it didn't happen, seeing as they did one for Havana, but these would have been easy wins. She didn't have any fully Spanish songs except Hasta Los Dientes. All of the more conventionally Latin sounding songs were in English. Now, they're all good songs, but it's kind of ironic that Hasta Los Dientes, the most pure pop song (practically tailor-made for US radio) was in Spanish, meanwhile the more Latin songs were in English. 2

Agree Speaking of No Doubt, it was the hit that got away from that album. 1

Cheers Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I do wish she incorporated some salsa/reggaeton elements into a song or two to really capture the MIAMI vibe she was going for tbh 1

Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I think she should release "B.O.A.T" as the next single and make sure the video is perfect - it has potential to do a little something like Shameless. I've seen that many people on TikTok are obsessed with the song and its lyrics

This honestly scratches my head lmfao Hasta los dientes was a bop, an english version would have smash after bam bam
