I never got on the 'I hate Camila, she's racist' bandwagon - which I thought was just excessive and proved to be almost another cancel-culture-dud. Surely anyone should be able to tell apart an annoying teenager who says and does stupid, dumb **** from an actual racist. Havana and Senorita are humungous songs but they kind of became her identity for me tbh. I saw her First Man Grammy performance a while ago and was v impressed by her and realised she's super talented. I was interested to see what she was going to do after Familia. Whatever she'd do, she'd probably have been criticised either way. Then this album came! What a pleasant surprise and turning out to be one my favorite albums of the year. Minus the interludes and Drake song, it honestly is a pretty decent album. Great melodies, interesting sounds, beautiful visuals and creative concept overall. I can tell Camila had a somewhat clear vision in mind for this era. A mix of songs I wanna shake my ass to and also some really emotionally reflective songs. I like that Camila is not settling for some middle of the road pop star but she dares to be divisive and to take risks. Highlights for me: DREAM-GIRLS, Chanel No.5, June Gloom. Hidden Posted July 7 Share Posted July 7 I've just had the chance to watch her Rock in Rio performance and man.. she always does wonders for her music when she plays it live. I hadn't felt C, XOXO the way I wanted. It didn't click for me instantly as Camila or Familia, but this is a very solid album. I dare to say she's in her best era, at least personally. She's very confident, she gathers everyone's attention on stage, she was really born to do that. She ain't fame seeking. She just loves what she does and I'm glad I chose to stan her Be it a number 1 or a number 101, I'm glad she's at peace artistically and mentally speaking. Go, Mila! I do think her numbers are terrible though, and there's no way to sugarcoat that. But on the other hand, wanted to let you know not to stress about the numbers as well, and just enjoy the music that she has put out, and the performances / MVs. I've stanned her solo career since CITC and I had doubts she would have any sort of longevity career-wise and she's on album #4. She obviously does well enough and meets expectations otherwise her career would be halted, she would be dealing with delays and one-off singles.
