Dear Reader Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I really enjoyed this album and I wasn't expecting it pretty when i cry and June Gloom are my favorites 1
UnusualBoy Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I honestly don't know how to feel about the album, there are tracks that I like like He Knows, twentysomethings, Channel 5 & Dae County Dreaming but there are some other that felt meh to be. Will have to listen a couple of times. What annoys me is that some songs are hella short, only 2 tracks over 3 minutes and they're barely in that mark
Raphy23 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 this album is very 2016. and not sure why everyone is hyping up Dade County, it was my least fave sounded like an Iggy azalea reject. 1

With her image in the garbage at the beginning of the cycle with the plagiarism allegations and the never-ending trend to dunk on her online this is doing quite well all things considered. She can definitely pull comfortable streams from this album and we're going to get more music from her in the future. The pitchfork review (hate to compliment them, but) was right when they said this isn't a statement, it was a necessary transition album for what she wants to do next. And I really hope and need her to do a hyperpop weird experimental album next because she really shines when she does it.
D.Va Posted June 28 Posted June 28 terrible album. She really had something going on with Dade County Dreaming, I LUV IT and He Knows. It feels like the album is still at an early stage, like 40% done. Let's not even start on those useless interludes. 1
toy soldier. Posted June 28 Posted June 28 That was a tough listen and I went in with an open mind. I feel like she was trying to create the vibe of an artistic movie with all those interludes (very spring breakers), but fell flat to me. Pretty When I Cry is probably the only song I though was OK. I know everybody is comparing to Charli, but to me it sounds more like Madame X. Same electronic chill sound that is trying to sound deep. I also feel like the album is very for an American sound, doubt it will do good in Europe 2
5hfangurl Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Boring album. The 2016 dancehall vibes seem quite redundant. There are some highlights, but her features shine more than she does. I can see what she tried to do with the world-building around Eerie Nights in Miami (should have been the title) and BOAT kinda gives, but the concept could have been fleshed out way more. Too many interludes, and too ballad-heavy as well. 1 1

JDC Posted June 28 Posted June 28 The 1-2-3 punch of B.O.A.T - pwic - June Gloom The Pitbull sample on B.O.A.T is so stupid but so addictive, I can't get over it. The album is good but it's too short, 10 full songs? Half an hour? That's not the time I think of when you mention "Miami nights" concept. Need her to release a deluxe and give us more bops! As an OCH I congratulate her for serving her first good, cohesive album. 1
