jrd30121994 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) Far too much autotune and the album overall just sounds like a mishmash of random sounds thrown together. Not for me lol Edited June 28 by jrd30121994 ;

sweetkiss Posted June 28 Posted June 28 as camila stan from the start im really bothered by the album and idk do i even wanna share cause it might sound negative. in short, her worst album and bunch of fillers. imagine the album where there are 14 "tracks" but theres only 5 or 6 camila herself put effort in. whats the point of releasing bunch of random fillers like koshi xoxo, 305tillidie, uugly. pink xoxo is another big disappointment because why adding pinkpantheress and not do a song with her. i think what makes things painful is idea that all these titles would make cute songs if she just made a song ??? as the dream stan i didnt like dream girls at all because nothing new was done to the song that makes it worthy to put on the album. drake was absolutely boring and didnt bring anything to the table. dade county dreaming was carried by city girls horrible addition to the album is production of her vocals that made her sound more screetchy and nasally. her tone on all of her songs before is nice, but with extensive autotune, she sounds like a chipmunk almost, and also, she chose not to sing, but more breathing was involved, which makes the song more empty and less involved. i said ill be short but i guess i couldnt hold it in, im so disappointed, ill be jamming to pretty when i cry. promo is not matching to me the sound of the album. she appears confident in her performances and interviews, and then on the album sounds like she stood way back and let others make decisions for her and lyrics are almost desparate after breakup to get his attention versus confidence. which ok, its fine to be desparate and heartbroken but album was made (how it sounds, idk fr ofc cuz im not camila lol) from a space of running away from the feelings. i cant believe normani dropped 5/5 album and camila one is barely 3/5 1 1 1 1
Bhabylon Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I wanna know who tf lied about the album having reggaeton bops because they got me excited for nothing 1
Baltie Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) With the way people were coming at her for being a Charli xcx ripoff, I thought she was gonna end up going that route. With that said, I do love the direction she went with for this album. Not sure how to explain it, but it still feels distinctly Camila even though she's branching out from the Latina sound of her past albums. Definitely a bunch of highs here. Sharing my thoughts on the songs (didn't bother scoring the interludes and Drake song): Spoiler I LUV IT: Such a bop! Loved it on first listen and Carti's verse grew on me even more with each listen. 10/10. Chanel No.5: I thought it was okay on first listen though I feel it will grow on me. I love the lyrics especially when she started rhyming random things. 7/10. pink xoxo: For a moment, I was like "That bit sounds like Pinkpantheress..." and then I screamed when I saw her listed on the credits. But this was a cute interlude. Loved how they used that melody from the background of HE KNOWS towards the end. HE KNOWS: Deserved better! I bopped to it from day one and I like it even more in the album. Nas X did his thing on the track. 9.5/10. Twentysomethings: Didn't really care for this one. Kinda forgettable compared to the other tracks. Reminds me of Used To Be Young by Miley quite a bit. 5/10. Dade County Dreaming: This one is a grower for me. Loved Camila's parts for sure, but the features weren't really clicking for me on first listen. 7/10. koshi xoxo: I wanna know what song he is referring to cos I'm sorry but I kinda cackled at the fact that CAMILA of all albums was the first album he ever cried to. Though, I did like the interlude, but I'm just not sure if it was necessary in the context of the album. HOT UPTOWN: Another bop! Camila needs to release this as the next single for the charts! I liked the back and forth between Camila and Drake here. 10/10. Uuugly: This one is all Drake so not sure I would listen to this again. Though, I did cackle cos I couldn't stop thinking about the Camila Drake rumors. DREAM-GIRLS: Such a freaking bop. It's giving me chill Miami summer vibes. Single worthy. 10/10. 305tilidie: Cute interlude. Though at this point, I'm like why are there so many interludes and short songs... B.O.A.T.: I thought Camila's vocals were really good here. I know there's autotune but it's the vocal delivery for me. Also, I LAUGHED when I heard the sample cos I never thought it would be used that way, but overall, I thought it was a good track. 8.5/10. pretty when i cry: This one I feel is my favorite on the album and makes me wanna go crying in the club. The buildup on the bridge kinda gagged me too. 10/10. June Gloom: Loved this song and Camila's vocals. It gets me in my feels but like horny at the same time. Loved the outro and it reminds me of something. 9.5/10. Overall, the album is like an 8/10 for me. Will definitely be going back to this album. Didn't really care for her during Romance and Familia but now she got me back. Edited June 28 by Baltie 3
sleepevaded Posted June 28 Posted June 28 i honestly enjoyed the album i think everyone's doing wayyyy too much w these harsh reviews. i def could've used more but the fact that we know there's a deluxe OTW makes me calm. the interludes except pink could've been kept (uuugly with camila actually on it would've been cute if it had been shorter). overall the singles could've been chosen much better + tracklist could be shifted a bit. i'll give it a good 7/10 4
Rainbows Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I like it! I love the production it really is a high point for me!! DREAM GIRLS IS A BOP I'M OBSESSED hot uptown is lowkey not good 2
Ricdrocr Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) Love the album, the interludes not 7.7/10 My top 5: Pretty when i cry Dade county dreaming I luv it Dream girls Hot uptown Edited June 28 by Ricdrocr

Augmented Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Well…at least she tried to do something interesting sonically/production wise and really leant into it for the most part (except for the tired ballads that could have been from any of her albums). Some of her peers should take notes on that front. Whether it actually works? On a couple of tracks maybe but not overall. It's 'quirky' pop heavily infused with hip hop for the most part so if that's your vibe you might really enjoy it 2
Venom Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Okay, but the way 305tilidie's instrumental is kind of scary and haunting. It's almost as if the voices are playing in Camila's mind as past memories. And then, how it's followed up by BOAT? CHILLS. 1
Club classic Posted June 28 Posted June 28 the Pitchfork review is actually a good read and score! Love the praise for DCD, Hot Uptown and BOAT 1
