well… she should've taken an additional minute to fix that “but at least I look this good" mess of a line

THe song is about the media (and/or haters). The line is a direct reference to all the discussion around her appearance (there were several threads about that subject on ATRL as well)

Agreed. It really is just a DOMO rip-off with uninspired lyrics and a forgettable melody.

"Uninspired lyrics" to ATRLer CroNich but literally the whole reasons the song is going mega viral because people can relate to the lyrics and appreciate how good it is

Bob Dylan found begging for lessons. Tracy Chapman found with some paper and a pen and a timer. Queen Ari :jonny5:

this is quintessential ariana, it's her songwriting style which is very casual and sometimes has elements of humor/sarcasm. "god forbid something happens, at least this song is a smash" in thank u, next is another example of this. it's true to who she is as she often uses humor to cope with difficult situations/emotions. obviously this approach is appealing considering the GP's response to both songs.

Queen :loki: But Sia would've done it in 5 minutes. And that includes the toilet break.

Sometimes the inspiration happens in the moment and the lyrics just pour out.

no it is very on brand but on thank u, next it works because the entire song has a very not serious, playful vibe while here everything feels very sincere and emotional until that line comes out of nowhere and it ends up being just too ridiculous

I mean I would say the same thing for most Taylor Swift songs. I find them uninspired but I guess the masses relate to that.
