They're all the same the production on these pop songs is so… anti-pop and that's the main reason it's not working Agree, other than the high note on the "illuuuUUUUUuu" toward the end--that's what I loved about Ian Kirkpatrick's production on FN, each chorus added something new and addictive like the cowbell on Pretty Please. Also why I much prefer the extended mix of Illusion! 1 1
Sadie Saxton Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Okay I've been revisiting the album and These Walls and Whatcha Doing have me in a CHOKEHOLD 1

Naikuun Posted May 8 Posted May 8 The verses of Falling Forever are so good and French Exit finally clicked with me, no skips now. And i keep getting more addict to End Of An Era. 1
Gladiator Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Been so obsessed with These Walls, French Exit, Illusion, Falling Forever, and Maria. 1
Relampago. Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I almost wish Falling Forever didn't have a chorus outside of the production and "HOW LOOOOOOOOONG" because the part after that kinda slows the song down a bit. The rest of the song is literally perfect.
Relampago. Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I'll also never forgive the US GeePee for letting GODini not go top 10 and sit there for 25 weeks. The fact Levitating is the only song she's ever done that's seeing it is insane. It hasn't aged even one bit, and has literally only gotten better with time. A PERFECT pop song.

The production just sounds lazy and monotonous. 1

Drop another Calvin Harris banger before starting your next era Dua! She needs an Anwar Hadid look alike for controversy 1
stephen1108 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 off topic: the "Dark Pop" demo of Boys Will Be Boys finally leaked, it was the first clip we got of one of the demos of the song. 1

Give us some adlibs or some harmonization. The production just sounds lazy and monotonous. It's wild to me. It's basic common sense, like a give-in in pop music "theory". Idk how the production and vocals missed the mark so awfully there. EOAE - nothing H - belting in breakdown but way too muted TS - nothing TW - one minor BG vocal added WD - nothing FE - very minor BG vocal added(?) I - one minor "riff" (please) FF - best example where each chorus adds new vocal elements (listen to the godly Acapella!) But it's a little too quiet in the mix to tell easily AFL - nothing (tho at least this song has a clear build in production) M - nothing except the high note in the first "Maria!" Of last chorus HFY - one quiet harmony added in last chorus, but something like the live SNL vocalists would have been amazing We need belting, harmonies, different vocal takes, SOMEthing. Her absolute refusal to do it is just insane lmao 1 1 1
