gotportugal Posted May 4 Posted May 4 the debates being ODHs waiting 5 years for her to fail and now spending their saturday on an atrl thread talking between themselves 14
kayliah Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I only listened to the album once and tried loving falling forever but it was too loud and these walls too chill going nowhere. i tried to force myself to like training season and illusion but now i have ptsd when i hear those songs on you tube or in my playlists had to delete them . I miss her Cool, physical and dont start now sound. She was so fresh and awesome. Should she release a new album next year in october ? she could pull a rihanna 1

I listened to the album again last night and still just in shock at the utter drop in quality. I don't think I've ever seen a MPG fall so fast and so hard. It just really makes me so sad because FN was just pure magic. I was euphoric the entire era. A true pop era. The quality was there and the DRIVE was there. It's just sad to witness this in real time. I think it's wild that people consider her to be a MPG, and believe me, I have been here and a massive fan since DL1. I think she's extremely successful, and popular, with impressive stats, but those things do not a MPG make. I really think FN was capturing lightning in a bottle during a time when the world needed it. I really like the album, but it's sad that she had Tame Impala and Danny L Harle at her disposable and created something this safe. Edited May 4 by V_E_N_U_S 1 4
_Fey Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Also thinking about how Ariana, Beyonce, and Taylor announced and released albums between November and now, and how Billie was only two weeks away from doing the same as well. And what does Dua have over them to justify the extra 3-4 months she made everyone wait? Two (2) performances.

This album is bombing but she is clearly part of the pop zeitgeist regardless. Dua Lipa is 100% one of the main people in focus in music for today's audience. We can see from the performance of the singles there was hype and anticipation but quality or style of the music just wasn't clicking

original_lifeline Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I'm following Dua since 2016 and this album is a boring meltdown! idk even her basic pop songs from DL1 sounded fresher and riskier than this safe and uninspired flop

Be a little more informed baby 2

Nashe Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I don't think an underperforming album will have any effect on her touring ability. She's hip with the younger gen, she has a recent hits-heavy catalogue so another FN-sized tour should be easily doable. 1
J-esper Posted May 4 Posted May 4 You know ODLH have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation when Beyoncé', Taylor and other women are brought into the conversation. Women with decade spanning careers with twice or more the amount of albums, who also are not her peers People know they are not obligated to post a reply when they enter the thread, right? 1

Marianah Adkins Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Dropping TAP Management was the worst thing she couldve done in her career….
TripToYourLove Posted May 4 Posted May 4 ok so these walls -> whatcha doing -> french exit is actually quite the TRIFECTA! she should've gone this route sonically for the whole album and shelved the 3 dance singles for a different album (well illusion shoulda just been deleted completely). 1
Crank_It_Up Posted May 4 Posted May 4 1 hour ago, gotportugal said: she needs to dump Illusion forever it literally ruined her numbers 2 weeks from the release All the Miley stans dragging her is the funniest to me, Dua is truly on misery lane to be compared to her if this is her flop era I'll take it as I'll be seeing her headlining plenty European festivals, i'll take the wins I can get I somewhat disagree. I think Training Season is where people lost interest in the era. It didn't come out swinging the way they expected it to. Its streaming kept falling week to week and radio wasn't letting it rise much. In hindsight, it makes sense why Warner and her team panicked and rush released Illusion. But panicking was a dumb decision, they should've calculated a full plan. They should've allowed TS To continue its thing and naturally fall out and then push Illusion right at the album release (if it was still their choice for the next single). I say this because album releases get big boost whenever a music video is also released alongside to it. This is why her management's dumb asses should kept their patience and held Illusion until then. We're currently in album release weekend without any music video which I feel is also a detrimental impact on the streaming numbers. 2
