ABC says that viewership peaked during the show’s final half-hour, with 21.9 million total viewers. (Because one or two of you are about to ask: ratings for the “earlier” 7 o’clock Eastern time hour are not yet available.)

The ratings only increased by 700k compared to last year, that's kinda underwhelming considering the Barbenheimer phenomenon and how ratings have usually soared in the past when a blockbuster won Best Picture (like Return of the King/Titanic).

The Grammys this year had a much bigger increase (over 4.5M), so I had hoped Barbenheimer would've made them crack 20M. Maybe they still will with final day numbers.

That’s what happens when fads are not present at the ceremony :clap3:

I hope no fads are allowed in next year’s ceremony as well.

Ryan stole the show, really. I hated Barbie but now I'm going to give it another watch after that performance. :rip:

Final number had it only at 19.5 million, Only a 4% increase vs last year.

No Taylor, no huge increase!

Posted

For context:

Golden Globes: (9.4 million) 50% increase vs last year

Grammys:  (16.9 million) 34% increase vs last year

Oscars: (19.5 million) 4% increase vs last year

Ya’ll keep denying Taylor’s impact, but it cannot be underestimated!
