Sony upset with Dakota Johnson over flop movie

A lot of hard work from many people and it sucked! And she has to be the face of it. Let her tell the truth. It's okay. If we can't admit when something turns out **** then what is the point. Why do people wanna be lied to so bad it's actually crazy. Thinking Dokaya was a star for a superhero film was their first mistake

I mean, it's one thing if you thought a script was good and feel yourself and the whole team did a good job during filming but then feel the marketing campaign by the studio was misguided and ultimately undermines the movie itself, but if an actor doesn't like the script / thinks the film itself is bad... why agree to be in it? :deadbanana4:

Like others have said, it didn’t matter who the lead was if the material was just sheer garbage. Although her monotonous delivery surely didn’t help the cause.

The director should be the one to go down with the sinking ship tbh

anyway off topic but I hate how she’s become like the patron saint of b*t*hy gays and embodies the worst qualities of nepo babies bc she is a shite actress and now she is attached to a Celing Song movie with Pedro :psyduck:

What did she say that was so wrong? I haven’t read or seen anything from her dragging the movie.

So she chose to maintain her integrity and speak candidly about her experiences with the film, rather than pandering to the clueless executives responsible for creating such a lacklustre project.

Let's be realistic here, distancing herself from the film is only going to help her career in the long run. It's basically damage control at this point. And plenty of actors do it all the time, even with successful blockbusters - look at Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's comments around the Twilight movies.

It's unreasonable to expect her to shoulder all the criticism as the face of the project, when decisions made by those behind the scenes played a far greater role in the quality of the eventual output than her acting. And frankly, pissing off the executives responsible for making a film like Madam Web is not something I would be scared of doing in her position.

the movie was destined to bomb with that script attached to it :rip:

It didn't help that dakota didn't care about the spider-man property... which i guess isn't a prerequisite, but it def goes a long way (look at how tom hardy leans into the campiness of venom)

When is it out in digital? I want to watch.

Tbh it was funny and at least better than Morbius or Venom 2, but she’s in this annoying mood always like so over herself that she’s not able to take the piss and just play along with the flop, the other girls look like that have a good time and are always entertaining in their interviews.

And well she will remain a nepo baby and being the 50 shades girl.

People at Sony questioning her should also expend some energy questioning their scripts.

She isn't very talented anyway — she does a good, unbothered, raspy/casually sexy vixen type character, but it is just her playing herself. Why anyone thought this would suit a Marvel clairvoyant heroine is beyond me.

Someone wrote the line "he was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died." No commas, no semi colons, no thoughts. And she delivered it in her trademark casual, hey-I-just-woke-up-but-we-can-hang-;] type way.

Both parties are at fault.

She's the worst case of nepo baby. She wanted to get easy money and move on. Well, it doesn't work like that when you taking part in ruining belowed IP. Do another indie horror (like  suspiria) if you don't want all the fuss that comes with doing blockbusters. Btw. how pathetic is it that she did only 1 good movie (suspiria) in her whole career. :toofunny3:

She's not very captivating. I think The High Note is her best work.

I would have given a one time huge interview, said the movie didnt work at the end of the day and didnt connect with people but thanked the crew and the production team and castmates. That's how you are supposed to be. Professional.

didn't one of the movie editors say he was playing CS while editing it? :rip: if so i think mostly everyone knew it was a trainwreck early on except the old white CEOs at sony lmao

Shes not a great actress so she should be grateful she can lead a movie in the first place.

I don’t even like these kind of films, but Dakota Johnson acting like she was above this despite her starring in it is such a loser move.

It’d be something else if she in a few years started hating, but a lot of people, who aren’t big buck CEO types, probably worked their asses off to save this dump of a film, and all she does it sht on it in the media ? :skull: She couldn’t even just shut her mouth and let that speak for itself.

Try again.
