brenda-walsh Posted March 7 Posted March 7 i don't see an issue with articles like these, he didn't really drag her just reported on the chart numbers. we all know that Dua's songs are slow burners, especially in the US. TS isn't her strongest single but it can still be a stable hit in the long run like Houdini was 3

Lmao. i guess at least he has picked on some of the men too. But idk. I wish people would leave Dua alone. Protect our new queen of harmless pop bops. Oh that's not... It keeps getting interesting, thoughts? (i'm not surprised personally) 4
Sugar-Rush Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Don't know much about Forbes. Is it normal for them to criticize chart performances? Also it's interesting that they claim she's one of the biggest pop stars on the planet right now, while also saying that her single is underperforming. Isn't that sort of an oxymoron? Quote It’s not unusual for new songs to slip in their second or third week on the Hot 100. Well they spilled some tea. I know certain songs that dropped like 30 positions in their second week. 1
NumbSoul Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Sure, she's not doing great in the US, but the US is not the end-all and be-all. Training Season is literally #21 on Spotify WW and she also has Houdini at #22 still, so I think she's doing perfectly fine 1
Orsay Posted March 7 Posted March 7 The era’s kinda bombing so far considering she’s coming off FN and the hit Barbie song. Let’s see what other tricks she has up ha sleeve! 2
Ger Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I mean, he didn't lie, only ones mad are the same delusional people that put her on some pedestal. "Houdini" was a very good song, but her status in the U.S. is still very underwhelming considering she hasn't yet been able to beat the faceless allegations in the States. At this point, she probably won't, one thing for sure is that it's an uphill battle for British artists to establish really well in America. 2
Dante Silva Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Looking back to DL1, it’s promotion did not initially indicate that U.S. success would be sought later in that campaign. I’d actually prefer her to retreat back to being a regional artist as it’s now becoming apparent that to fit the U.S. mould, she’d have to do some watered down white girl RnB lite like Tate McCrae and that’s absolutely not what I want from Dua. I find the path she’s already on far more interesting. 1
TheHanyo Posted March 7 Posted March 7 (edited) I've said for years now, but Dua is a pop star cut from the same cloth as Katy Perry. Being hot and young is a big part of the brand, which means they have expiration dates. Doesn't matter how good the bops are... if you can't pivot to something like acting, writing for other artists, or entrepreneurship, you're cooked. Edited March 7 by TheHanyo

magazine Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Forbes posting chart-runs is kinda cringe I thought it was a classy brand, am I mistaken?
HRHCOLLECTION Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Yeah the two singles just don’t click and I have no desire to listen to them as often as I listened to her previous ALBUMS even some deeper cuts have more replay value

IBeMe Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Ever since her comments supporting Palestinian human rights big media outlets have been pretty snarky, rude or flat out defamatory towards her. This isn’t bad bad per se but it’s just pointed for no reason. So many artists are flopping lol….just unnecessary overall.

MatiRod Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I knew this wouldn't work in the US. It's too gay and the US public is over gay dance-pop right now. I'm a gay man so don't drag me pls. I hate it. But it is what it is. "Training Season" chorus sounds like an ABBA or Bee Gees song. 1

Hurem Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Not gonna lie, I'm shocked that 'Training Season' was initially supposed to be the lead single, and 'Houdini' was a last-minute change. In my opinion, 'Houdini' was a much better choice for the lead, so I'm not sure why they thought 'Training Season' would be a huge smash. The music video fiasco needs no additional comments. Although I like the new sound, I do prefer the 'Future Nostalgia' sound, and it seems the general public does too. I don't think this album will come anywhere close to 'Future Nostalgia's' success, but that's okay. Not every album needs to smash to be perceived as a quality record.
