I'm confused, I thought her contract ended fully in 2023. Did it not end until yesterday?

I think she was not allowed to release any music outside of that label between the verdict to now… probably the transition period.

It's common to persuade artists to re-sign with their labels, but obviously that wasn't an option for Kesha anymore at this point.

No. She only didn't have to work personally with Dr. Luke anymore since then, but the lawsuit and all of her contracts with Dr. Luke remained active until last year.
