I haven’t watched this yet, as a huge fan of the original series, is this any good?

I’m only halfway through it and if you go into it trying not to compare every detail to the original it’s enjoyable enough. I wouldn’t call it great, though.

Can't wait for the inevitable meltdowns when Netflix cancels this after the next season anyway :snowball:

Listen, there were a few bright spots in the live action reimagining. Obviously it pales in so many ways to the original, but I'm praying they take into account some of the valid criticism and course correct. Book 2 is my absolute favorite, particularly the Ba Sing Se arc so for the love of any higher power... please don't mess this up. Redeem yourselves!

Crossroads of Destiny battle could be jaw-dropping in live action if they go all out :jonny5:

I was about to reply the same thing verbatim. I feel like if it was a brand new show people would have loved it but because it’s a remake it kind of falls short. I am happy that it’s getting season 2 & 3 tho

As a huge fan of the OG as well who hasn’t watched it yet either, I spent more time than I’d like to admit reading the very long reviews and spoilers from super fans on Reddit,  and from what I’ve gauged, the general consensus was that it’s alright but definitely completely misses the point/spirit of the original animated series. Folks were saying just to expect another typical action packed, children-fighting-war series with the typical live action GoT style effects… Certain storylines were changed (a few for the better) and some of the casting/acting particularly with Katara was bad…

I might pull the nostalgic stick out of my ass and finally get around to watching it, with my expectations in the toilet…
