I’m only halfway through it and if you go into it trying not to compare every detail to the original it’s enjoyable enough. I wouldn’t call it great, though.

ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted March 6 ATRL Moderator Posted March 6 Listen, there were a few bright spots in the live action reimagining. Obviously it pales in so many ways to the original, but I'm praying they take into account some of the valid criticism and course correct. Book 2 is my absolute favorite, particularly the Ba Sing Se arc so for the love of any higher power... please don't mess this up. Redeem yourselves!
Dark Miracles Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Crossroads of Destiny battle could be jaw-dropping in live action if they go all out 1

I am happy that it’s getting season 2 & 3 tho

As a huge fan of the OG as well who hasn’t watched it yet either, I spent more time than I’d like to admit reading the very long reviews and spoilers from super fans on Reddit, and from what I’ve gauged, the general consensus was that it’s alright but definitely completely misses the point/spirit of the original animated series. Folks were saying just to expect another typical action packed, children-fighting-war series with the typical live action GoT style effects… Certain storylines were changed (a few for the better) and some of the casting/acting particularly with Katara was bad… I might pull the nostalgic stick out of my ass and finally get around to watching it, with my expectations in the toilet…
