MatiRod Posted March 6 Posted March 6 If I were her instead I would say "whatever, it might become a camp classic and I enjoyed making the movie". Better PR that way because this way it's like.... sis, you read the script. 8 5
HASHTAGPOW Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Wrong casting. It should've been Academy Award for Best Actress Jessica Chastain. 7

BrandNewBrandon Posted March 6 Posted March 6 By the way she acted throughout the promotional campaign for the movie I'd expect a more "well, I'm just happy to have worked with them, not everything works out" statement from her and not criticizing it like that. Especially considering she's putting all big budget movies in one box when in fact the only ones that are this bad and are performing like this with a committee doing what she's describing is Sony. Disney and Marvel have people who care about the content and therefore most of it was superb. She should've made some research before signing on to know what she was going into and that it was not the MCU that's acclaimed.
Popular Post Both Sides Now Posted March 6 Popular Post Posted March 6 She is trying to frame herself as some sort of serious actor who was too good for the movie. Sis, you’re a 2X Razzie Award Winning Nepo Baby. If anything the movie was too good for you 1 26
Poxy Posted March 6 Posted March 6 She doesn’t realize she is in a camp classic those of us who know… KNOW Madame Slay is amazing! 1
Cameltoe Chariot Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Lmao I f*cking love her. She's an incredible actress, you could tell she knew this was going to be a bomb from the jump but a paycheck's a paycheck! 4 2 1 1

Julia Fox Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) I haven’t seen the film but I want to see it to laugh so hard. I must say just judging by the trailer she just got bored and tired of doing the movie so she just didn’t give a **** and acted without any effort just because there wasn’t another way to handle. But sadly she doesn’t seem that smart to know any of that things in advance and do an iconic movement career wise like she could just know she’s in a future cult classic of the camp genre. But I can tell you she doesn’t even know what camp is and she’s iconic for that btw Edited March 6 by Julia Fox
LOTF Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I can see how this attitude may come off as holier than thou and I get why people would be iffy about it but I am glad she's spilling the tea on these soulless bland movies. If Madame Web ends up being a camp cult classic it'd be by accident... 2 1
Bubble Tea Posted March 6 Posted March 6 The way some of us talk about people's jobs like... do you wholly and fully stand behind all the jobs you do? I'm just there to get the pay check and go live my life. 3
shinyshimmery Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Sometimes actors really do make or break the role... I think she could have done way more with what she was given, but unfortunately did not.

I have a feeling Dakota and the other actresses were sold on the potential of this movie based on the characters of Madame Web, which are really awesome, and then the script was rewritten so many times later in the process that there was no point in pulling out.
M!X Posted March 6 Posted March 6 She literally got famous because of the worst written triology of books of all time made into cahs grabs movies and now she wants to talk about this? Lol 2

Better PR that way because this way it's like.... sis, you read the script. Keep in mind a lot of projects change when they’re being actually made and produced. No project on paper ends up exactly the same in practice, for both better or worse. I applaud her tbh, she gave this one a try and realize it isn’t for her, it’s not like those big actors who’ll criticize something without trying. At least she got to experience it first hand and it didn’t work, nothing wrong with admitting it. Actually a good thing, means she’s aware of reality, of her limits and her capabilities.
Jack! Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I like her a lot, but this is counterproductive since it’s a well known fact that there are many round-table and collective style movies that hit the box office and are a success. Look at Marvel, I can count on one hand how many of those movies in recent years have just been “a filmmaker and a camera”, often it’s those ones that are the least successful. It’s also not that what’s she saying necessarily lacks substance, it’s more that if this movie didn’t flop, I don’t think she’d be speaking about it like this. 1
Revolution Posted March 6 Posted March 6 she is squandering the good will she got from the gp for ending Ellen 1
