loved Barbie but I'm a sci-fi nerd so Dune's taking it

 

But they are so different, Dune vs Star Wars would make more sense

The craft was strong in each of them, but I found the storytelling in Barbie and it's messaging to be rather simplistic to a degree I'm still unsure of what it was trying to say about womanhood and society other than "it's complicated!" (I felt the same way about Oppenheimer which used the excuse of biographical objectivism to not actually say anything other than "nuclear weapons bad," which everyone already knows).

 

Dune (in part because it had a very rich text and also wasn't basically an advertisement) was able to create spectacle while also being thematically rich and complex.

Meanwhile Barbie kinda left me back feeling lukewarm about it after watching it after all the hype, ngl
