No one wants to wake up to the news I woke up to this morning. No one.

It's so fascinating that people continue to harass her with this when she clearly never cared about music. As much as I enjoy her discography, it's obvious she wanted to get famous and rich (and there's nothing wrong with that) and music was just a way to acheive her dreams. She is a married woman with a kid now and enjoys her life, let her live in peace.

Well, no. She definitely cared.. for at least a decade. Does she care now? Maybe, maybe not.

she's telling us to stream her best song

One of the best bc Anti is a pure no skip album. One of the best solo female albums of the 2010s I fear

Imagine being Rihanna and trying to top Anti

Not sure why people keep acting like Anti is some kind of masterpiece but whatever :rip:

She is annoying and her friend is also annoying.

I remember when we were waiting for ANTI to be released and it was the longest album gap since Unapologetic. So many people said “if she releases R8 I’ll never beg for another Rihanna album again” but as the years have gone by of course people are still unsatisfied and begging for another album. And I can bet you that 1 month after R9 is released (if it ever is) people will just start asking when R10 is coming. People are never satisfied.

Huh? Your comment doesn’t make any sense

the girl hasn’t released anything for 8 years (apart from her soundtrack songs which mean nothing to me).

Why would fans be satisfied after an 8-year gap though... make that make sense babes

Just drop a hits collection and record two new songs and we’ll go away. Maybe even re record some of them.

Is this new album needed anyway? I never hear the GP wishing for a new Rihanna record, i.e. a majority of my friends who are low key pop music/culture fans can't even name an album track of hers besides maybe a couple on ANTI (which is a shame, she has a lot of amazing deep cuts). I feel like only her loyal fans (bless y'all I don't know how you do it) are still holding out hope or even wanting a new album.

Same with LG7. It must be nauseating for the artist tbh. :foxaylove3:

If it's nauseating for an artist to release 10-12 songs at least every 2 years, I question their dedication and love for the craft anyway :celestial5:

Love how the entire general public was able to tell you this themselves :dies:

Your friends are not the GP. Everything you mentioned is anecdotal and specific to your experiences. You and your friends don't speak for the entire general public

For people who say she's edging the fans, has she actually said R9 is coming or are yall just putting words in her mouth?

I never said my friends were the entirety of the GP, it was one example and by the way my post was a question to spark discussion, not a statement, so my point still stands. The only time I've heard buzz about a potential Rihanna album was when she did the Super Bowl. She didn't take advantage of it obviously and since then I feel like the hype has died out.

Again, the only time you've heard... anecdotal and the people you hang around or hear things from do not represent the general public or the majority of music listeners

Again, that's why my post was in the form of a question, and I wanted to hear other people's thoughts. Why the defensiveness? I like Ri.

No, what I meant was it must be nauseating to release an album fans have been bitching for for two years, only to have them start bitching for another after 6 months. :foxaylove3:

In the case of LG7, Gags deserves every ounce of bitching she will get because we know damn well she won't release another record until the aforementioned celebrates its 5th anniversary.

I'm a Sade stan. And do I need to explain what life's like for an Aaliyah and Amy stan? 5 years is cake.  :foxaylove3:

No offence but who is still checking for / eagerly anticipating new Rihanna in 2024? Plenty of artists have filled that niche in the past few years (Ari, SZA, Tyla just to name a few) and her old bops are still bopping.

this made me realise how almost every pop girl from the late 00s/early 10s are semi retired, shilling products for money or have pivoted to other career paths…we are in the trenches :bibliahh:

It’s more so how she hasn’t confirmed nor denied if she is making another album for 8+ years.  That’s being strategically ambiguous and she knows it.  Just retire already so people can move on from waiting.
