I actually can't think of two american alternative singer/songwriters I love who have such disparate styles from each other than these two  Azealia, sweetie, you could have at least said "who even is this? Ryn Weaver?" or "who even is this? Eartheater?" or "who even is this? Allie X?"

 

like... nooooo  idk Caroline and Banks really appeal to different sides of my fav things in alt music. Banks is where I go (along with Kelela and FKA twigs) for artsy, laidback, somewhat experimental alternative R&B vibes with strong singer/songwriter tendencies which can be reminiscent of Kimbra and sometimes even Feist. Caroline is where I go for exciting, adventurous, pure pop vibes with a flair for venturing into the unknown and curiosity. Banks is more earthy, Caroline is more galactic. I love both equally tbh but for SUCH different reasons okay rant over lol

while Serpentina is easily her worst, it is nowhere NEAR the worst alt pop girl album ever made  let's not forget that Love + Fear and Lust for Life exist. both of those are far worse than Serpentina and I ADORE Marina and Lana! and Lust for Life even has a few tracks I like, but Serpentina as a whole is just sooooo much better

 

I'd say that Banks may not be the powerhouse vocalist Caroline is, but she definitely has just as much talent in the songwriting and arrangement fields. and honestly her voice is great too, it's just more nuanced and her musical style calls for more sensual vocal harmonies

lust for life is a masterpiece compared to serpentina  love + fear is better than serpentina too i'm sorry but 

 

anyways i'm doing tew much on miss banks, she gave us three excellent albums and one is a masterpiece in songwriting and melodies (iii)

it'll take another album of that quality for me to forgive her for garagebandtina i'm afraid
