Gwendolyn Posted February 29 Posted February 29 This is just inviting her to be racially abused, she needs to perform a bit of Djajda and call it a day 4 2
Mean Trees Posted February 29 Posted February 29 He's honestly the worst. Saying this just for clout. Embarrassing man. 3
Moonlight Nation Posted February 29 Posted February 29 Aya Nakamura should definitely be part of the ceremony, but not through an Édith Piaf tribute. Barbara Pravi or Zaz would be much more fitting picks based on their existing influences and old-school sound. That would be like asking SZA to cover Barbra Streisand. It could be done as a reinterpretation in a stand-alone setting, but in a mass event like this it would be setting them up to unfair judgment and hate. 2
Cain Posted February 29 Posted February 29 Erm Aya should do her own sound, but she’s gonna get hated on regardless The French people I met abroad all hate her tasteless
Domination Posted February 29 Posted February 29 Aya is one of the few interesting artists France has produced in the last decade. No wonder they’re mad.

It's been dull ever since tbh, and some are actually catching up on that.
LatinFreak Posted February 29 Posted February 29 The games are less than 6 months away. Shouldnt all the opening ceremony details be finalized by now? They usually rehearse months in advance for such a big live event.

Polgg48 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 dictator doesnt know aya songs and suggest that epic song for her to cover? dont response the moron, girl
Taste of Honey Posted March 1 Posted March 1 She absolutely should be represented in some capacity, but I don’t think this would be the best fit for her. 1
kishi Posted March 1 Posted March 1 This is pretty disappointing. I would think she had more support in France. Who are her core audience? 12 hours ago, Gwendolyn said: This is just inviting her to be racially abused, she needs to perform a bit of Djajda and call it a day 12 hours ago, Moonlight Nation said: Aya Nakamura should definitely be part of the ceremony, but not through an Édith Piaf tribute. Pillz Posted March 1 Posted March 1 The American equivalent would be Biden wanting Cardi B to cover Etta James for the Superbowl 2
glitch Posted March 1 Posted March 1 I had no idea she was so divisive in France. I kinda assumed she was pretty well liked given how famous she seems to be over there

Who are her core audience? okay first off... pop girls always had to face hate in France, it's a very snobbish country towards anything that isn't considered "high art", add in the misogynoir and yeah poor sis went through a lot BUT, she still has a massive audience of fans (mostly black and north african women in France and in Africa) It's very similar to how the American GP treats Beyoncé, she has a lot of fans and industry respect on one side but there's also a very LOUD and ANNOYING crowd of people who just viciously hate her for simply existing 4

This woman is a horrible human being.
