Brooklyn Baby Posted February 29 Posted February 29 (edited) eternal sunshine is coming next Friday and "yes, and?" is not the comeback smash that people were hoping for. She isn't releasing a second single before the album release and the album is also a total of 35 minutes, song lengths are giving PinkPantheress songs. Was this project rushed and do you think she's heading for a flop era (for her standards)? Edited February 29 by Taeyong

Was this project rushed and do you think she's heading for a flop era (for her standards)? 35 mins for 13 tracks of which 2 are interludes is pretty normal in 2024. And the shortest song is 2:43. For this day and age thats long lol 2
Maneater Posted February 29 Posted February 29 All the signs point to yes but I’m looking forward to giving it a listen
Harrier Posted February 29 Posted February 29 I feel she's headed towards an art not the charts era for sure 1 1
TalkThatRihanna Posted February 29 Posted February 29 Yes unless she releases the Fantasize-d inspired bop as the 2nd single
Junipero Posted February 29 Posted February 29 (edited) No one can stay on top forever. If it is her "flop" album, then she has had a good run in terms of success. In the end, it seems that people on ATRL only "stan" for sucess, and move onto the next big thing, or eventually quit Top 40 music once you reach a certain age bracket. We have seen this play out with the mid-to-late 90's babies moving on from Gaga to Miley Cyrus in 2013, and eventually become inactive within their fanbase once they get older. The music industry will churn out someone new. Isn't the new "it" girl Tate McRae? Edited February 29 by Junipero 6
ariananext Posted February 29 Posted February 29 She debuted with high numbers with Yes, And but the single was weak as a lead compared to her other hits, so it had poor longevity, but the initial numbers show people are still checking out her releases. Anyways, as others said, if it's her flop album 1) she can always recover 2) she had a great run. 5
vale9001 Posted February 29 Posted February 29 (edited) I'm feeling in the long term (like a couple of years) this era will be bigger than positions. ..so no. Edited February 29 by vale9001

Isn't the new "it" singer Tate McRae? yep. everyone is hyping her up, even though live she sucks. she just knows how to dance. but i can promise you that in 5 years... she won't even be in the same tax bracket to be considered a "britney" "lady gaga" or "ariana grande" (think later has some bops tho)
Communion Posted February 29 Posted February 29 16 minutes ago, Taeyong said: Was this project rushed There's no such thing as a "rushed" Ariana Grande album. Her biggest album was written and recorded largely in 3 weeks. Y'all are just not used to people who enjoy spending time in the studio and have the proficient skills within that environment. 11
Shimenawa Posted February 29 Posted February 29 She doesn't seem to care though. Where is even the 2nd single
Solaria Posted February 29 Posted February 29 We don’t care + we will enjoy the music + numbersTRL can suffer. Stream Eternal Allahshine out March 8th! 1 8 3
Rotunda Posted February 29 Posted February 29 I’m thinking it’ll be a Doja situation where it’ll feel like a step backwards overall but there will be something that takes off.
wildsidenormani Posted February 29 Posted February 29 Relative to the amount of effort she and her team have put in to this era, no. It's actually a massive success
Selegend Posted February 29 Posted February 29 not a flop in a overall industry perspective but an underperformance for her level of stats yeah, she is unless it's true that she's releasing fantasize with different lyrics, if she really does that it can save the whole era thanks to tiktok (sped up version, without UMG) 1
Blue Monday Posted February 29 Posted February 29 (edited) This rollout has really sucked so if it does end up underperforming it's her/her team's fault, but I could see single 2 taking off once the album drops and keeping the album afloat. yes, and? feels done commercially speaking. Kiss It Better Posted February 29 Posted February 29 i wouldn't say flop era but more of something like DW which wasn't doing as good as My Everything until Side to Side was a single
shimind Posted February 29 Posted February 29 her next single will make or break the era. This is why they are probably releasing the album first to see the public reactions to the album deep cuts. 4
burninredhot Posted February 29 Posted February 29 (edited) It depends. She will obviously debut with around ~200k first week. If any song on the album goes viral then it might remain stable. That seems quite difficult tho cuz her music's been pulled off tiktok Edited February 29 by burninredhot
littlebodybigheart Posted February 29 Posted February 29 she’s gonna flop. idk why everyone is dancing around the question 1 1
