I am not saying it's one of the best adaptation but it's easily a great show and very entertaining.

Undeserved sorry as a ATLA fan I hated this adaptation. Cringy dialogue, bad pacing, poor acting, and some completely miscast characters. 

Book 2 is more than guaranteed at this point given how successful this was, but it will be another Fate The Winx Saga situation where it flops in its 2nd season and ultimately gets canceled.

Critic reception is tepid but general audience so far has been mostly positive. I see no reason why this won’t continue to do well into the next season and ultimately get a third and final season.

Are we even sure the third season would be the final? He doesn't even learn water bending by the end of this season.

As a huge fan of the original animated series, it’s still a no for me. Have no desire to watch this

I haven’t finished this season yet (I’m on ep 3) so I just assumed season one would be the entirety of book one. 
 

My point is more that if viewership holds and people seem to enjoy it, I think we’re all but guaranteed to get however many seasons it takes to finish the story.

I kind of agree with all of this. I guess it is an enjoyable mess, but it's definitely not doing ATLA justice.

Let's see if it has legs. As a fan of both original shows, One Piece managed to very successfully carry the personality and atmosphere of the show into the movie, watched the entire show and can't wait for more. This, however...it's just like any other generic Hollywood movie; I couldn't get through the first episode.

He didn't master waterbending in Book 1 too

Katara taught her along the way and then Toph was introduced

Aang does learn water bending though by the end of Book 1 in the cartoon. In this Netflix adaptation, he didn’t even attempt to bend water ONCE

We love to see it.  This ADAPTATION is good. 

I stopped believing the reviews when every "bad" review of this was: "but but but the animated series...", so I watched it for myself and it's good. 

I never watched the OP animated series, anime or whatever, but I liked the live action.

Why is this being compared to One Piece? Avatar has been much much bigger. It should’ve obliterated those numbers. This is just okay at best. Netflix has shows that open with 50M to 90M

One Piece is on an equivalent level in popularity.
