Sannie Posted February 25 Posted February 25 While I do not think this is a huge deal, the stans being like, "this is totally fine" are being delusional as usual. She has a lot of fans in other southeast Asian countries and decided to tell them to **** off for a measly $4m? Was she not even planning to come to Asia at all this tour and is only coming because of the money? She can not really claim she cares about her fans if the only way to get her to come is to offer her money. Weird. 1 2
Vermillion Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Already mentioned but I feel like this deal is being used as cover for what in reality was a safety decision combined with not wanting to downsize It’s still poor PR cover given that they easily could’ve made more than $4million but whatever.
QueenBLadyG Posted February 26 Posted February 26 (edited) x25 and you may have had a deal Edited February 26 by QueenBLadyG
Nintendoes Posted February 26 Posted February 26 ASEAN needs to put sanctions on Singapore. This should be illegal.
cuteboyzay Posted February 26 Posted February 26 ONLY 4M!? Do they not realize that Taylor Swift herself could help them make probably quadruple that if she did perform there? Idk why but that’s so d*mn funny but also ridiculous to me .

Raiden Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Anyone who says this is normal and it happens everywhere is a lying sack of dog mess. This is unprecedented level of grifting — it's tens of millions of government money being used by a private entities to arrange exclusive concerts. That doesn't happen at all. It's not normal and it will never be normal. This used to happen during the middle ages in Europe. But it's illegal now. You can not do in the EU what Singapore govt is doing at all ! Glad the Thai authorities exposed this little hardcore grifting by Tay. So this is what she does while being sanctimonious about performing for private events? That is still inherentlyh better. You get paid to perform. This is getting taxpayer money from one country, not to perform in a neighbouring country.
Raiden Posted February 28 Posted February 28 (edited) Quote In 2014, there were rumours that Taylor Swift was due to perform at the Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand, before a sold-out crowd. But the programme was abruptly and mysteriously cancelled. Singapore does this often — and secretly. It pays for artists not to show up in other countries. What a bunch of phonies. This is how they artificially boost their importance and relevance: by state-sponsored bribing. They prolly also pay youtubers to say not to go to Thailand and the other places in the area. There is nothing mysterious about the Red Tour cancellation, they had some political issues in the country at that time "Taylor Swift has canceled a sold-out concert in Thailand, which came under military rule last week after a coup d’etat." https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/taylor-swift-cancels-thailand-concert-following-political-unrest-6099314/

Hi, are we planning to rewrite history or what? The Thai show in 2014 was cancelled because of political unrest. https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/timeline-thailands-politics-since-military-coup-led-by-prayut-in-2014 https://time.com/122640/taylor-swift-thailand-cancels/ If you wanna stir **** at least get fact-checked before inciting nonsensical flamebait. Do your research. 1
shakeyourbombom Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Is this just for this year? Or the whole Eras tour? That's not really a fair play
cat1867 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Singapore government is just paying Taylor for what she would have done regardless. Taylor wasn’t going to tour longer in Asia either way. Her stage is get immediately get packed to go on the two month + voyage to Europe after the Singapore shows. Shipping time and stadium season in Europe dictated how long her Asian leg was , not government incentives. She would have had to cancel the whole South America leg to have a longer Asian leg. The only thing that the incentives determined was whether she had two weeks in Singapore vs two weeks in Thailand vs maybe spitting between the two .Singapore would have been highly favored due to its stability and hub nature. Unlike in Europe and the USA, she has to ship or fly her stage( from insiders she only has one stage but two sets of rigging) between dates which drastically increases expenses and increase time between concerts. As a result, her team was always going to choose more dates in one venue versus same amount of dates in more venues. . For eras, she isn’t coming back to Asia regardless of incentives . That would require extending her tour for 4 months because of shipping gyms.
SharGaga Posted February 28 Posted February 28 If you look at her schedule the next 2 months after Singapore have been cleared up to prep for the new album and take another little break from touring before going on a gigantic European Leg. She doesn't have much time this year to tour elsewhere anyway so I don't understand the backlash.

But all of her legs have about a two month break in between because that’s how long international shipping takes. It’s all about the logistics behind moving her stage.
Bubble Tea Posted February 29 Posted February 29 Reading this thread phew, she is so booked and busy.
