4m? I highly doubt that's true. That sounds like pennies for her. When I'm sure she couldve generated 8m+ per date in most of those SEA countries??

This being a “bad” thing to the OP :priceless:

It’s 4m per date and moving the entire tour across large distances in SEA would be extremely expensive

i guess she did it for fans

the people love her, but the politics are messy. wasn't taiwan trying to get her to perform there too and she first accepted and then stepped back because of growing tensions with mainland china? it needs a special attention so nothing controversial takes place... i mean one of her albums is called 1989 lol there were no problems back in 2015, but 2024 is quite a different scenario

whats up with 1989? whats the connection? Please educate me :bird:

Isn't it possible for artists to create 2 plans? One plan for a stadium show and one for an arena show. I know it would be a little more work to come up with something like that but it shouldn't be THAT hard. It's ridiculous that the Philippines has been skipped on this tour when they're her most diehard and loyal fans.

It's a common practice, and goes to show that she has actual impact on the economy. But also, how do you think artists end up performing in random weddings in middle east :skull:

And they don't perform at random weddings in rest of Asia or America?

It's 4m per show. You could at least read your own article before posting.

only 4M? that feels like a loss but again, the logistics of taking the show to another country are probably a nightmare

it's 4m per night so 4×6= 24m

TS 1989 stands for Taylor Swift 1989, but it's also unfortunately the same acronym as Tiananmen Square 1989, which was when the chinese government killed mainland citizens during demonstrations and protests back in the 80s. It's been a controversial subject for Chinese society ever since and it's mainly blocked from their traditional media and social media  Back in 2015, there were rumors Taylor would be banned from China because of the coincidence, but it didnt happen. Censors didn't consider it subversive, although TS 1989 was lowkey avoided in merch and references in Shanghai. Ever since then though Taylor's profile has risen so much along with discontentment with mainland China in Hong Kong and Taiwan that her team needs to tread rather carefully and tailor the concerts for the government if she happens to perform in mainland, Hong Kong or Taiwan. A lack of care can put her in certain uncomfortable situations like when how Katy was banned for naively wearing a sunflower dress for a concert in Taiwan (it's a symbol of anti-Mainland stance in Taiwan). It shows you don't even have to be explicitily political during a concert like Bjork dedicating Declare Independence to Tibet on stage lol  Moreover, back home, there might be even further criticism from american conservative media if she tours there during the election year. It will be definitely used against her, since China and the US are currently in an on-going Cold War. It's crazy how these things shouldn't matter but she's been dragged into the political arena already by the candidates and the media.

Anywys, It's a tiny chance and her team is good enough to avoid these things from happen, so I think a leg there will eventually happen because she has plenty of fans and I doubt the majority of them would do anything other than just enjoy the concerts.

it really isn't. 24m OFF tax is a huge amount for anyone

24m just to play exclusively in Singapore is huge, each date probably gross another 10m+
Thailand was fighting to get her too
Good for her but not that great for fans tbh, many can still afford to fly to Singapore but the demand is still huge, she can easily do multiple dates in other SEA countries too. Big Western artists rarely visit SEA, and most of the time just Singapore, Thailand, and maybe 1 or 2 more countries, Taylor is huge here, if anyone can sell multiple dates it's her

On Feb 16, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said he was informed by AEG that the Singapore Government offered subsidies of up to US$3 million (S$4 million) for each concert – in exchange for Swift agreeing not to perform elsewhere in South-east Asia during The Eras Tour.

They paid her 18mil usd not 4

Not all of that goes to her bank account :rip:

The Singaporean govt is paying her a total of 18M USD just to bring the tour to the country and have exclusivity in SEA.  This is of course on top of whatever revenue the 6 shows will generate in ticket and merchandise sales which i believe she also gets a cut from.
