spree Posted February 24 Posted February 24 one of the restaurants that's part of a small chain I work for implemented a "service fee" of 10% tacked on to every guest check, and then instead of the suggested tips saying 18%/20%/22%, it's now 8%/10%/12%. Plus they are getting $3 more per hourly wage. Basically the business is stealing 50% of the server's tip and making the customer pay for it, and then keeping it and doing what they want with it. It's crazy.
Gladiator Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I never have and never will feel bad for not tipping when picking something up myself.
Patient Zero Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I visited USA for three weeks and I didn't tip one time. I didn't know it was such a big deal there. I live in NL and they never ask for tips.

Dula Peep Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Oh my god, this happened to me a few weeks ago, walked 15 minutes in the cold in New York City and they printed out the receipt even though I already paid and wrote in with a line for the tip amount… I could not believe…

Pick-up pizza is one of the cheapest things you can get to eat. It's not exactly a luxury . Following your line of argument I'd have to tip all the minimum wage workers that make a business run (e.g., maintenance), not just the food service workers. If the item has a set price and the workers get a full wage (i.e., not a tipped wage like waiters) then yes I will do whatever I want with my two dollars.

That sounds like a you problem. Or a them problem. If they don't want to work at domino's then they can find another job. I'm not tipping for picking up my food. Too bad so sad pizza workers lol
Maroonx Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I find so ridiculous when I see the tip option at a counter... Like wtf are you doing extra that you deserve a tip... You're not serving a table and bringing food to the table... They should remove that option from counter orders/pick-up.
