Asscatchem Posted February 23 Posted February 23 https://www.dailydot.com/news/shamed-for-not-leaving-tip-pizza-pickup/ Quote “My husband placed an order online for a pizza to go. He paid online and did not put anything for the tip. When he went to pick it up, the guy at the counter said, ‘I noticed you didn’t leave a tip; I wanted to let you know you can still leave one.’ My husband said, ‘Good to know,’ and walked out!” the redditor shared. “Same thing happened to me last week; ordered pizza online, paid for it; went to go pick it up and the counter staff said one moment, she printed out the receipt and said ‘can you just fill this out?’…So I filled it out, put a big fat 0 on the tip line, signed, and left,” r/sliders45 shared. 6
ATRL Moderator Element Posted February 23 ATRL Moderator Posted February 23 Yeah… I’m not surprised by this. But absolutely not participating for takeout like… 💀 tips have truly been diluted into having no meaning and I worry it will make people turn against giving tips in the actual cases that deserve them 1

Curaga Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I always feel bad when I tap “No Tip” for takeout orders, but, like, why I know why, but, still, why have even fast food places/food trucks (where you normally don’t tip) added this step to the checkout process. It’s annoying. Also, the way I can’t tell if that pizza image is AI or not This AI **** has ruined me; I question every single photo now (which I guess is good, but I’m TIRED). 7
Breathe On Moi Posted February 23 Posted February 23 honestly I’d cancel my order right there and then, maybe that would get management’s attention and an overall conversation would happen.
Trent W Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Never ever tip on the pick up service, they are not doing anything. When they are bringing you food at the table or delivery in some cases yeah you have to tip. But when they are just standing there doing nothing yeah absolutely NO. 2
Fleahive Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I don’t tip when I pay online but if I have to pay in person and they pull out that damn iPad I react one of two ways. 1. Panic press 15% 2. Have the balls to go to custom tip and type in $1.00 2
Fleahive Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I CRINGED when they pulled out the iPad at STARBUCKS DRIVE THRU. I haven’t been back ever since. 2
uusagii Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I always tip if it's actually being delivered to me, but for a carry out? **** that noise
bad guy Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) Call me whatever you want but I smash the no tip button gladly at every place that isn't a restaurant. No you're not getting a tip for plugging my order into a machine or handing me my drink at the drive thru. You are not getting a cent out of me. The only exception to this is if I go to a small coffee shop and the person is super nice and we make good convo. Then they'll get a tip (they also are usually making it for me so it fits). shyboi Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) i always tip, i just feel terrible if i don't or if i tip too little i tip my barber 50% or more sometimes but he's very cool and we talk the whole time Edited February 24 by shyboi
poki Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Soon self-checkout lines in supermarkets will ask for tips. 3
Miss Show Business Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Tip culture in America is getting out of hand. Maybe workers should put this energy into getting their employers to pay them a living wage instead of punishing people for not tipping on an order where a service was not performed.

Tudors Posted February 24 Posted February 24 If I here it's gonna ask you a question and the iPad is turned to me I may tip a dollar but I won't be back to be put back in that situation. There is a cafeteria at my job that's more of a smoothie place vibe and they have the balls to ask for a tip for buying a can of Pepsi. Now the cafeteria is closed down and I'm wondering if my personal boycott helped lol
PMKARDASHIAN Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Maybe it’s just me but I never mind tipping a few dollars during situations like this. 2/3 bucks isn’t going to break me a couple times a week.
shinyshimmery Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) These establishments are now wanting us to support their employee payroll, on top of purchasing their food/products. It's absurd, and entitled for employees to expect tips on pickup orders. It also adds a level of stress on customers. Every food place asks for tips now... subway, chipotle, crumbl... My goal is to keep cooking in 2024... the less we support their business model, the more they struggle financially. The other day I was at a carwash, one of those fancy ones that let you use their vacuums for free... they had the audacity to ask for a tip on top of their already expensive service. I put in "no tip" the employees don't even do anything but stand around watching people clean their own cars. I have also been to one where at the end of the wash there's 2 guys who towel your car dry, in that case I do tip bc they actually provided a service for me that warranted a tip. My boyfriend is a starbucks manager, he says that employees hate doing that too, and that they totally understand if you don't want to tip and don't have to. Starbucks just made it easier for those who do want to tip, to do so, if they have no cash on them. Don't feel bad for not tipping, Starbucks actually takes very good care of their employees, financially and through benefits.
Cheers Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Why would I pay a gratuity when they’re giving no service? They can FAWK off. 2
Marry The Gods Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Oh yeah I don't tip them either. **** that ****.
