Dr. Alexander Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I never understood why they don’t adapt films to actual plays. Why does it have to be a musical? 1
Zack Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Great for her! I wish the Ugly Betty reunion could have happened though. Vanessa was amazing in it and she was born to play her character. She's super talented 3

Some are just straight up plays. But this lends itself well to a musical. And musicals make more money when they're successful.
Exodus Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Miranda Priestly and Wilhelmina Slater existed in the same year. Perfect casting if you ask me. Should be a breeze for VW. 7
TaylorNation Posted February 19 Posted February 19 she will slay this, but the music being by Elton John is a mess

And musicals make more money when they're successful. I can’t think of any other than that straight play for Harry Potter and Stranger Things. But, for a film like this, it would be amazing if it were just a play. Can you imagine the endless list of female actresses across the world who could play this part? It would make so much money and would last for a very long time. But now that it’s a musical, it limits that and the audience it reaches.
toxicgenie Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) I loved her as Wilhelmina and she will be amazing in this too. Edited February 19 by toxicgenie 2

Fastlane Posted February 19 Posted February 19 She was nominated for Grammy (13 times!), Tony, Golden Globes, SAG and Emmy and has never won. I hope she will have a big success and acclaim for this role. 5 1
