Kern Posted February 19 Share Posted February 19 (edited) I don't know what to do I work since I finished my BA but I don't want to work here my whole life. I wanted to study part-time and get MA (Visual Communication), It's the only course that might interest me even tho some people told me that I won't learn much there. Studying part-time for MA just seems like a total waste of money and time. It's on the weekends and it's mostly remote so I don't think I'll even make any connections there. But on the other hand, I kinda don't know what else to do to not end up at my job forever! I'm wondering if people here regret getting their Master's or think it's better to have one and sacrifice those 2 years. For my personal development, I would definitely say yes. It helped me a lot with my way of thinking and being able to approach a new project with new perspectives. However, I’d agree with your peers and say that a MA in Visual Communication probably won’t be beneficial for you in the long run. Surely you have other interests? KatyPrismSpirit Posted February 19 Share Posted February 19 as im doing it now i do kinda regret the choice a little. i did persuit it because of fear i would regret not doing it later on and im still young. i have ran out of a lot of money studying an additional two years because all the job offers i got after finishing my bachelors sadly didnt want me… as i couldnt work full time due to this masters. What I think might help is looking up what jobs in your field require a Master's degree and seeing if that's something that would fit your desires/interests. KatyPrismSpirit Posted February 19 Share Posted February 19 i agree tho that a masters degree should be worth the effort and additional money you invest into the degree. doing a MBA, or MSc in a scientific, technological or engineering field would be worth is as employers generally look for skilled personnel in these fields. I mean, if you can find a job you might like, then go ahead and ditch studies. My MSc allows me to access senior positions in my place of work, and thus in the future it'll help me progress my career. If it's something that'll expanding your knowledge/allow you access to posts you might not be able to otherwise then it'll be worth it - if you get zero gains from it then it's not.
