Fastlane Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) Apparently, ABC bosses have declined her request to have a bigger payout as a judge. Katy Perry asked for a bigger pay packet than $30 million but was declined. "Katy enjoyed the best deal for reality in TV, worth around $30m a year. It made her the (highest female star for reality and entertainment. But ABC do not want to up it after five years of increases. There is no wiggle room as the parent company Disney looks to be cost effective and keep spending down for the next couple of years," the network consultant insider shared. The decision to refuse her bigger pay packet came from Disney's execs. Although they know that Katy is the main eye candy for people to watch the show, they also know that she's expensive. https://www.musictimes.com/amp/articles/100659/20240214/real-reason-why-katy-perry-left-american-idol-revealed.htm Edited February 15 by Fastlane 8 1
SharGaga Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Honestly good that she's at least attempting to get back into music. I watched Idol during it's peak days but honestly what kind of relevance does it have these days?

Hunter_13 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Now she needs to take the money she earned from idol and find a new talented producer and have a comeback.
dawnettakins Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I mean it was only a matter of time. You can't command that kind of salary with her dismal star status as of late. It just doesn't make any sense, how do they recoup any of those costs? It's not like anyone is tuning in because she's on there atp lmao 12 1
LatinFreak Posted February 15 Posted February 15 She was the only interesting judge left on that sinking ship. I better this way tho. I now she gets to tour the world!
Popular Post Just a Gay on ATRL Posted February 15 Popular Post Posted February 15 They’re the clowns for giving her 25M in the first place when she first got hired (I forget the exact number), but she is a greedy bastard for asking for a raise from THAT too. I’m glad they declined. 1 22 2 2

Mess go to the HQ thread, tag the mods and tell them OT: Is Idol even getting ratings like that to warrant more than 30 Million? Well hopefully she puts all her energy into music now after May. 4

It’s actually kinda funny because ABC Idol can still at least hit one hit wonders out (Gabby Barrett, Chayce Beckham, Lauren Spencer-Smith, currently Benson Boone who have the #1 global song right now). But only the former two made the live shows (Beckham won) and the latter two were both cut during Hollywood week. Beckham hasn’t even realised a full album yet despite a viral TikTok hit that’s popping on country radio.
HASHTAGPOW Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) I know a ̶c̶h̶e̶a̶p̶e̶r̶ good replacement, ABC Edited February 15 by HASHTAGPOW 12
toxicgenie Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) Disney finally getting smart with money. And good, now Katy can focus on music again. Edited February 15 by toxicgenie
Vermillion Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I’d comment on whether or not she would deserve that kind of money but the goalposts keep moving on what stages stars are in their career that are on this sort of thing, especially given this is a dying format in the first place. She’s tried four reinventions since Chained to the Rhythm and none of them came close to her previous success, but I don’t know what her bar for a successful era is going forward. If it’s a sold out dozen arena tour good for her. Then again any loyal fanbase of hers left isn’t that large and always seemed to be contingent on her latest hit. Vegas was successful enough but that ran its course.
UnusualBoy Posted February 15 Posted February 15 She was delusional for asking for more, even the 25 million seemed excesive for me considering she was way past her prime but at least now she will focus on the music and hopefully a tour.
thatsmydemi Posted February 15 Posted February 15 She was already paid a crazy amount of money but I can't blame her for asking more. Queen tingz!
umich Posted February 15 Posted February 15 She was just trying to secure the budget for KP6. I don’t see the problem.
Domination Posted February 15 Posted February 15 The fact that she will probably continue to fade into irrelevancy with a bigger net worth than the girls who are out here actually doing music. Her Idol paycheck has always been insane.
LustSpell Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Imagine being paid this much and not having to do anything. She won ngl. Making more off her legacy than other stars dream of in years 2

To be fair, she signed on at 25m right before the Witness era started when it seemed like she was centrist pop figure.
Digitalism Posted February 15 Posted February 15 She knew she was going to release so of course she asked for more on idol if it was going to take a lot of her time
