Agree with everyone here. She should create music for her generation. She is a genius, why continue creating music for the masses?
What worries me is her legacy… hope it doesn't get lost between the new bops.

anyways I am still excited for this new song. Way better than puntería already.

Maybe after this EP she will deliver music for adults :coffee2:

The new song sounds bland already, also when will she announce the other tour dates?? This era has been so uneventful and dull.

You really don't have to explain yourself for stating the obvious.  Her music is made solely for streaming purposes and lacks any originality and artistry like any other basic label puppet out there. A once unique and intricate artist has been reduced to churning out forgettable streaming fodder and it's the saddest musical evolution one could witness. The sentiment is shared by a number of people so you're not the only one.

You're always so defensive and I don't understand why. I've had nice interactions with you before so I don't understand why it can't keep being that way.

I've never brought up any stats from anybody and I don't care about any artist I like underperforming. And if I'm being completely honest, I'd rather see her underperforming with great music (recognized as such from both fans and music critics) over seeing her having success with what she's been releasing for a while.

Also I don't think I'm the typical rusty Shakifan begging her to be who she used to be, I just want great music that I know she's able to create. Instead of a quick reggaeton/ranchera/bachata that it DOES sound like what everybody else does.

But agree to disagree, I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way about her.

I'm glad there's still Shaki fans that speak their mind! Me and my fiends would always talk about her change.

I listened to her since Piez and was amazed by her so young.

she was writing straight poetry but with catchy melodies and real instruments and had such a unique look and sound. I was into her sound until she wolf then not so much but that and sale el sol were at least still her: quirky lyrics, a good sound with not the same beat over and over like after sale el sol material. Idk if it's maybe people that didn't grow up with her Spanish music that don't get it but I wish they would get its not malicious or wrong to say that, she'll always be one of my favorite artists, but her change was genuinely drastic

She is never going back to making music for the arts. Her artistic vein has dissapeared and i really think she has a massive fear of becoming irrelevant

People fall in love with her numbers, not her hits. The initial feedback for these songs weren't exactly what people are asking from her in this thread.

Actually...I think people fail to look around at how popstars with querky vocals and passional rebellious lyrics changed with time. P!nk, Shakira, Gwen, you name it...the complains are ALL THE SAME. Maybe there's something yall refuse to see

You open Instagram, Tik Tok and X and everybody is asking for this new song to be released and here you always have to be extra.

Okay she used to take latin sounds worldwide and have interesting backgrounds lyrically and musically but this is still her.
She loves dancy Caribbean sounds with lyrics that deals with what she's going through, it seems to be a simple and catchy song but it's so Shakira coded, I see Shakira's Loca here and y'all are ready to define basic everything that doesn't sound completely new.

I think the song is catchy and I like the tropical vibe, but honestly, I don't care much for these types of songs. As a gay man, I don't find these "girlboss" songs very relatable. Still, I'm really excited. If she's releasing an EP or an expanded edition, that would be amazing. But can we at least get one new English song?

What happened with that track featuring Andrew Watt? You know, the one with the monsters and The Strangerz? Or maybe just give us the Spanish version of those.

I hope this gains some traction with Gen Z. It's great to see her supporting her fellow Latinas—that's real female empowerment. :gaycat4:

She focused too much on the Piqué controversy, and people just got tired of it. "Acrostico" was the perfect song to close that era, but she doubled down with "Copa Vacia" and "El Jefe." I honestly feel like she's been losing a lot of steam lately. I don't know why, but people seem less interested in her music now.

It seems like the Piqué controversy really turned a lot of people off. I wonder if people now see her as just another generic reggaeton artist.

Like someone mentioned before, I'm also worried that Shakira might end up erasing her legacy and losing the respect of her long-time fans. She doesn't seem to realize how much her older fans have supported her for so long—we Millennials and older generations.

As a fan, I'm honestly done with Afo Verde and how she seems to be a puppet for him. I wish fans were more vocal about it. :gaycat3:

She's definitely very concerned about losing her fame to newcomers like Rosalía and Karol G. She also leads an expensive lifestyle and runs a philanthropic foundation in Colombia, so many people depend on her financially.

It's similar to Taylor Swift, who has voiced concerns about rising stars like Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and other newcomers (she even has a few songs about it).

It's natural for pop artists to eventually fade over time, unfortunately, but Shakira is still holding on and fighting to stay relevant. I don't have an issue with that, but I think she should also focus more on her artistry. However, Sony Music seems to believe that just having hits is enough, which is short-sighted.

It would be tragic to lose Shakira from the Latino mainstream because, honestly, the rest of the Latino pop scene isn't quite there yet. If Shakira seems generic, the others are even more so. :gaycat6:

All these ShakiraRules usernames I keep recognizing. We old.

And btw, the purpose of this song is to sell the tour. Not anything else.

Is the song coming in a month like always?
Or are they going to do something right for once and release it this week? :coffee2:

I agree that she needs to focus more on her early catalog, not just the reggaeton part, and fire her current team but people who truly miss the "old" Shakira can stream her catalogue on Spotify and Youtube, that's why Día de enero, Inevitable, and other songs have been smashing for months. I mean, she's lucky to still be able to have success with the new generations at 47 y.o, why should she stop herself? When you look at the streams of the songs on the latest album that recall her old style, none of them have exceeded 20 million streams yet... And don't forget that during the crossover, she was criticized for singing in English and selling out to the devil, also that La Tortura and Hips don't Lie were too commercial etc

With the career she continues to have and the fact that she manages 2 languages (well, not much lately), it's impossible to please everyone ((I dream of an EP in Arabic, for example...)

Whatever happened to her K-POP collab song called ORIGAMI? Also does this confirm that we are getting a new era/album as rumored before? This is all really exciting. Can't wait for this drop

Thinking about it that name sounds problematic with a k-pop feature lmao. Maybe its on this new album?

amen sis.

You know....what is funny is if she came out with something less mainstream for GENZ and music for her generation...it would STILL be a hit. She is for latinos our "Adele - Taylor". Latinos also wants quality from her and it would smash if done correctly....heck I even see GEN-Z jumping in if she manages to get some hits.

"Ya Encontré Los Ladrones" with her coming out of Hacienda as an album cover. Dye your hair black. Give your generation what they want. Don't try to please EVERY generation out there or this might happen....focus on a target.

but yes...her team sucks, it ain't happening.
